Transcription: early explorers. The mystery of ancient Egypt has been studied for many years. More than 1,000 years after the pyramids were built at Giza, an ancient Egyptian prince named Qahamwaset studied the people who built the pyramids. Qahamwaset was the first to restore the Giza pyramids. In 450 B.C., Herodotus, a Greek, wrote an account of what he saw while traveling in Egypt. His book is still read by people studying Egypt. Parts of it seem unbelievable, but many portions of it have proved to be true. For example, Herodotus explained that letting a beard grow was a sign of mourning in ancient Egypt.
