Transcription: How we know what we know. The mud brick homes and workplaces of ancient Egypt no longer exist. Ancient Egyptian tombs, however, were built of stone to ensure that they would last through time. The tombs contained supplies for the afterlife. These objects were preserved by Egypt's dry climate and protected by the stone walls of the pyramids. In addition, tomb walls were inscribed with pictures and writings about rituals about everyday life. Our knowledge of ancient Egypt comes from these objects and writings.
