Transcription: Weight and Money The debon was the basic unit for measurement of weight. A debon weighs about 3.2 ounces or 91 grams. Smaller measurements, such as doses of medicine, were explained in terms of a number of wheat grains or carob tree seeds. Scales were made of two pans balanced against each other. Standard scale weights made in rings or in the shape of animals were placed on one pan and the object being wade was placed on the other. Ancient Egyptians did not use money.
