Transcription: Construction. The stone blocks that were used to build the pyramids are heavy. Most of them weigh as much as 30 men and some weigh as much as 800 men. These stones were floated down the Nile on barges. Then they were dragged to the pyramid site. Once the first layer of blocks had been laid in place, workers built a ramp out of wood and mud brick. Then they dragged blocks up the ramp to build the next layer of the pyramid. The ramp was extended upwards as the layers were completed.
