  2.                          Quick-Start Tips
  3.  
  4. 1. To begin using the program, select the icon labeled "Site Blaster" 
  5. from Program Manager or run the executable file "start.exe" in the File 
  6. Manager directory, or your Windows shell program.
  7.  
  8. 2. When you use the "Group Find" function [the `=' icon at the bottom],
  9. you can collect all of the sites that match a certain topic into a 
  10. sub-group that you can browse and edit apart from the rest of the sites. 
  11. After you find the first site, press the Fast Forward button on the
  12. bottom VCR controls and the entire database will be searched for matching
  13. sites.  
  14.  
  15. To do this, you need to specify search criteria by selecting a field, 
  16. then selecting "LIKE" (not the equal sign), then typing in a word or 
  17. phrase in the "Value" box, and selecting the "Value" button, and finally 
  18. clicking on the "Ok" button.  This sounds complicated, but visually it 
  19. is very quick when you use the mouse to make selections.

  21. IMPORTANT:  When you specify a word or phrase to search for, place an
  22. asterisk (*) before and after the phrase.  If you search for "Doctor",
  23. without using an asterisk, you will be shown a blank screen as nothing
  24. was found exactly matching that word.  If you search for "*Doctor*"
  25. instead, you will be shown the page "Doctor Fun" first.  The asterisks
  26. act like wildcards that will find the search term anywhere in the
  27. Description field. These asterisk wildcard symbols are not to be used
  28. with the "Find First" function, only with "Group Find".

  30. To recap, in order to search for a word or phrase, click on the field 
  31. Description, click on "LIKE", enter a word, and click the "Value" 
  32. button at the bottom, then click on "Ok". Please see the Help file 
  33. "sbhelp.hlp" for more details.

  35. One of the best uses of the program is to select the Table View when
  36. using the Group Find, remembering to also choose the Fast-Forward
  37. VCR button at the bottom.  All of the matching sites will be shown 
  38. in the Table View at one time.

  41. 4. The Find First command, the `?' icon on the bottom bar, will locate
  42. the first occurrence or the first closest match in the database.  This 
  43. will only work on indexed fields.  Initially you can look up the first 
  44. occurrence of a word or phrase in the Description field, since it is 
  45. already indexed. The other fields can be indexed also by using the 
  46. "Indexes" item under the "File" menu item.

  48. 5. To display the image associated with a site select the Image Icon
  49. at the bottom of the display, which is the one with the Tree picture
  50. on it.  To make the picture go away, de-select the Image Icon.

  52. 6. Peruse the Help file "sbhelp.hlp" at your convenience for more detailed
  53. instructions on the above and more. You can select the Help Icon 
  54. [the `?' at the top right], or press F1, or use the Help Menu to reach
  55. Help from within the program.
