  1. Hi, Welcome to Genesis v1.5
  2.  
  3. To install Genesis simply run the setup.exe program supplied.
  4.  
  5. Here are some (very) QUICK START guidelines:
  6.  
  7.     * Click and move the mouse in the view to move the 3D cursor
  8.  
  9.     * Click on any icon in the top right to select a tool
  10.  
  11.     * Each tool gives instructions in the status bar at the bottom of
  12.       the screen
  13.  
  14.     * Use the 'Set' and 'Do' buttons on the control panel to operate the tool
  15.  
  16.     * Press the first tool icon in the box to be able to animate your object
  17.       in realtime
  18.  
  19.     * The tool configure menu item brings up a dialog box allowing you to
  20.       configure the selected tool (each tool has a different dialog and
  21.       some simple tools have none)
  22.  
  23.     * Try loading up the various teapot objects in the \objects directory
  24.  
  25.     * Try out the various buttons below the menu bar (particularly the middle
  26.       four, to get use to the various Genesis modes)
  27.  
  28.     * Use the 'Dir' button on the control panel to position the direction you
  29.       want to look in (also the point that the first tool rotates about and the
  30.       point that the 'In' button zooms in towards)
  31.  
  32.     * Look at the help contents from the help menu. It includes an excellecnt
  33.       tutorial showing you how to build the teapot. THIS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  34.  
  35.     * Check out the jpeg images in the \objects directory to see what can be
  36.       achieved once you're past the teapot stage! NB. Unless you unlock genesis
  37.       you will not be able to load the objects as they use over 1000 polygons
  38.

  40. If you think Genesis is useful to you, or even just good fun, please consider
  41. paying the meagre 16 quid to unlock it. This will entitle you to free updates,
  42. bug fixes and news updates until the next major release, and provides me with
  43. an income on which to continue developing this fine product.

  49. If you're interested in programming for Genesis you ALREADY have a full toolkit
  50. on your disk. Nothing stopping you havin' a go. Please be aware though that for
  51. commercial software using Genesis a license fee must be paid.
