- TIPS FOR READING TAPES WITH TAPE2TAP
- ====================================
-
- TAPE2TAP is a bit intricate program, and got several deficiencies.
- In despite of that, it works perfectly with tapes on good conditions. And
- I'm very proud of it, despite it's limitations, since if you remember
- how dificult it was to load programs on the real machine, imagine doing it
- on a PC....
-
- First of all I recommend you to use a stereo equipment of good
- quality with a very low noise ratio. Of course immediatly after reading the
- header, the message program: Bytes:, or whatever, must appear.
-
- It's good sign if you see the stripes, it means you are getting data.
- Unfortanetly, the volume requires a bit of experimentation. Try it a about
- 3/4 below the maximum, or try it at the maximum, and going a bit down after
- each try. If all fails, try another tape.
-
- Please, note that TAPE2TAP will also read programs saved with strange
- schemes, devised for figthing piracy at the old days, but the emulator can't
- cope with this at the moment. At my home, I suceed to read about half of my
- tape collection, but maybe you're not so lucky.
-
- I must add that trying to read Speccy tapes is a very frustating
- experience. You you really want a game, I suggest you first search for it on
- the net, and on a last resource try to read it from a tape.
-
- Finally, SoundBlaster for input maybe more convenient, but will have
- better results with the LPT port.
