  3. No doubt you know different units are be used for measuring the same things. 
  4.  
  5. The most obvious example is probably that of measuring length, where we have 
  6. inches and centimetres; yards and metres; miles and kilometres etc.
  7. Then for capacity there are gallons and litres.
  8. For weight: ounces and grams; pounds and kilograms; tons and tonnes.
  9. For temperature: Celsius and Fahrenheit.                        
  10.                                              And so on.

  12. For most of the time we can stick with one system and forget about the
  13. others, but just occasionally we do need to be able to change from one
  14. sort of unit to another. That is the purpose of the program called CONVERT. 
  15. It will handle a wide range of conversions.
  16. It is text-only, non-colour program and should run on any PC.
  17. There are 2 files needed: CONVERT.EXE  and  CONVERT.MAN
  18. If you want to transfer them to another disk, make sure you keep them together.
  19. All you need to do to get it going is type in CONVERT.

  21. It is easy to use, with on-screen guidance at all times, but there is also an 
  22. on-screen manual which is directly accessible from the program menu - just in 
  23. case you want fuller information. Now try it!
