  45. What is NetScanTools?
  46.  
  47. NetScanTools contains a number of ports of UNIX functions:

  49. nslookup -- name server lookup of host names or IPs
  50. finger -- gets info about users on remote systems
  51. ping -- determines ability to reach a remote host
  52. traceroute -- determines route taken to reach a remote host
  53. whois -- a lookup utility for determining registered internet names etc.
  54. daytime -- the time of day on a remote host
  55. quote -- returns quote of the day from a remote host
  56. character generator -- a client that accesses a chargen service to determine your link speed.
  57. Time Sync - Use network time servers to synchronize your computer's clock.
  58. Echo - connect to a remote host's echo daemon and send and receive characters.
  59. IDENT Server - Identifies your computer to remote services that request info. Fully configurable.
  60. What's new at NWPS' web site -- a barebones URL grabber.
  61. NetScanner -- A easy to sequentially ping an IP address range to find
  62.   the active computers. Will also resolve the IPs to host names. Hosts

  81. This program requires Windows NT 3.51 (tm), 4.0 or Windows 95 (tm).
  82. It will not run on Windows 3.0, 3.1, 3.11, Win32s, Windows for Workgroups, or
  83. Windows NT 3.5 or 3.1.  (all the preceeding are trademarks or registered trademarks of
  84. the Microsoft Corporation).

  86. An actively running connection to a network using a Windows
  87. Sockets (or compatible) link is suggested.  Network cards to TCPIP networks are OK and
  88. dialup connections to internet providers are OK.  If you use dialup, you
  89. must be using a SLIP or PPP connection (TIA and Slirp work fine for all
  90. functions except ping and traceroute which require a static IP).

  93. NetScanTools. Most of what you see are the result of suggestions from users.
