- P │ POWERMENU v5.3 - SHAREWARE FROM BROWN BAG SOFTWARE │
- P └────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
- P FOR day-to-day use PowerMenu needs copying to a sub-directory \MENU on your
- P working disc. We wanted to let you run PowerMenu straight from here, but the
- P complete package was too large to fit in uncompressed ready-to-run format.
- P
- P So we've compromised slightly. You can run PowerMenu after reading this text,
- P but the manual (MANUAL.PM) and two utilities (MENUFUN.EXE and WHEREIS.EXE)
- P have been archived into a file called EXTRAS.COM. Therefore if you select the
- P option on PowerMenu's introductory screen to print out the manual, you'll get
- P an error. The same will happen if you try to use the File Locator option and
- P sub-items under Utilities for Computer.
- P
- P Try PowerMenu using the cards in the magazine as a quick reference guide.
- P When you're ready to install it on your hard disc or a working floppy, first
- P copy the file EXTRAS.COM. Then enter the command: EXTRAS
- P
- P EXTRAS.COM will unpack itself and is no longer required, so you can then
- P delete it. Note, on a 360k floppy-only system you'll have to keep the
- P manual on another disc since there isn't quite room for everything.

- C
- P ALL the files on this disc will be verified using a CRC (cyclic redundancy
- P check) to make sure that they are as they left us and haven't been corrupted
- P in any way. This check will take a short while.
- P
- P Each file will be listed and the comment "passed" added if everything is
- P correct. If a file has been altered in ANY way the comment "failed" will be
- P added. If any extra files have been put on the disc, they will be listed
- P as "not expected". If any errors are detected they will be reported, again
- P with an "Error(s) detected - continue (Y/N) ?" message. If this happens, you
- P would normally key N.
- P
- P The first time you run this disc, use this CRC check to ensure the files on
- P it are perfect. If you get a CRC failure as detailed above please return the
- P disc to the duplicators at the address shown in the magazine.
- P
- P NOTE THAT IF RUNNING POWERMENU FROM THIS DISC, IT MUSTN'T BE WRITE PROTECTED
- P AND SELECTING CERTAIN ITEMS MAY CHANGE FILES. ON SUBSEQUENT CHECKS YOU MAY
- P THEN GET CRC FAILIURES. WE STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO MAKE A BACKUP OF THIS DISC
- P BEFORE RUNNING IT
