These are vastly improved versions of the Empire's previous foot soldiers the Storm Troopers. The
only information that you have at the beginning is that they have been used on a Rebel space cruiser already and they took it over in minutes -practically before the Rebels even knew what was happening.
Obviously the last thing the Rebels need to do is wait until the Troopers are into mass production and then wonder why they didn't do anything earlier.
Through a variety of missions you have to find out lots of information about the Troopers until finally you are well enough equipped to destroy them and their means of production before they can be used to take over the universe. This is easier said than done as the 15 missions are both challenging and difficult.
All the levels are populated with creatures out of the Star Wars universe.
