Others include Harvey's (140, no smoking),[PARA]Mandela (300, no smoking), Zippy's (270), McCarthy's (400, [PARA]serves food), Grumpy Johns ([ITAL]pub-like[EITAL]), and the Airport Lounge ([ITAL][PARA]accurately-named[EITAL]).[PARA][BOLD]Arts Centre: [EBOLD][ITAL]The Arts Centre on campus is fantastic in every [PARA]respect - it looks as though it's sprung from some futuristic [PARA]fantasy and has facilities to dream about:[EITAL] 2 theatres; conference [PARA]hall; film theatre; art gallery; sculpture court; concert hall; music [PARA]centre and bookshop.[PARA][BOLD]Theatres:[EBOLD] (3) In the Arts Centre, the main theatre (cap 570) [PARA]attracts touring companies (drama, dance, opera, etc), as well as[PARA]big student shows. The studio theatre (200) lends itself to smaller[PARA]scale productions. [ITAL]Students enter into the dramatic fray with [PARA]thespian gusto.[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Cinemas:[EBOLD] (2) A purpose-built and a customised cinema showing [PARA]everything from popular culture to cultural pop (eg Jurassic Park, [PARA]Raise the Red Lantern).[PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos:[EBOLD] Rolf's is a customised nightclub as well as a bar [PARA]where students can do their funky stuff 3 times a week. [PARA]Meanwhile, every night students can get deeply dippy at Zippy's. [PARA]Admission to any: ú1-ú2.50.[PARA][BOLD]Cabaret:[EBOLD] Fortnightly at Rolf's feature a bellyfull of chuckle [PARA]peddlars including, recently, Jo Brand and the Rubber Bishops.[PARA][BOLD]Music venues:[EBOLD] The Union's Market Place is the vastest venue, [PARA]featuring names such as, recently, D:Ream, Chumbawamba, [PARA]Urban Species, Pele and Chesney ([ITAL]hang onto your knickers, [PARA]girls[EITAL]) Hawkes. Live bands also play at Rolf's and Zippy's. Special[PARA]mention goes to the 'whipround system' where students pay [PARA]whatever they want. Butterworth Hall (1,500) in the Arts Centre [PARA]features a variety of music, mostly classical, attracting top [PARA]national and international performers. The University Chorus and [PARA]orchestra, amongst other University and student music groups, [PARA]perform here in between world tours.[PARA][BOLD]Others:[EBOLD] 5 balls a year, 1 formal,[ITAL] the rest casual drunken orgies of [PARA]silliness and chunk-blowing.[EITAL] Also, 3 'pyro-discos',[ITAL] ditto[EITAL].[HDNG]EATING OUT:[EHDNG][PARA][ITAL]The University refectory is a bit like a motorway service station [PARA]with food to match, but more reasonable prices[EITAL]. On the other [PARA]hand, the Union caters for student tastes at Harvey's and the [PARA]Snack Bar, and McCarthy's does popular veggie eats. There's [PARA]also the restaurant in the Arts centre, a coffee bar in the library [PARA]and a few other outlets on campus. Or there's Coventry (see [ULNE][PARA]Coventry University[EULNE]) and a host of[ITAL] olde worlde[EITAL] cafes at [PARA]Kenilworth and Leamington.
