The halls are outside the city centre and some halls have been purpose built (modern brick - [ITAL]boring but pleasant[EITAL]). [ITAL]The others are getting a little shabby and showing their age[EITAL]. Most rooms are single and the halls are mixed. Most of the self-catered accommodation is in converted houses in and around the city for up to 10 students each and a few are reserved for single sex groups.[PARA][BOLD]Car parking:[EBOLD][ITAL] Difficult near the halls.[EITAL][HDNG]EXTERNALLY:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]A1[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Ave rent: ú32[ESTAT][PARA][BOLD]Availability:[EBOLD] [ITAL]There is little difficulty in finding accommodation [EITAL]usually in shared rented terraced houses for 4 or more, [ITAL]especially in the areas conveniently near to the University: Walkeley, Broomhill and Crookes (which is an appropriately named hot spot for thefts).[EITAL] Ecclesall, Abbeydale and Nether Edge are further away but cheaper. [ITAL]Pittsmoor and Broomhall (not to be confused with Broomhill) have too many nutters, prostitutes and drug dealers after twilight. Car parking isn't a problem except in the city centre, partly because there's little need for cars for getting around.[EITAL][PARA][PARA][BOLD]Availability:[EBOLD] The University owns houses and flats around the town with places for 272 students. Otherwise, students are left to their own devices.[PARA][BOLD]Housing help:[EBOLD] The University runs an Accommodation Office and advice service with 7 full time staff. Packed notice boards and contract negotiation.[PARA][PARA]
