[HDNG]INTRODUCTION:[EHDNG][PARA][STAT][BULL] Recent successes: [ESTAT][PARA]Membership of the Athletics Union costs รบ16 for 3 years, but [PARA]almost everyone coughs up and there are minimal charges for [PARA]facilities. [ITAL] Few regret paying because the facilities are excellent, [PARA]including one of the best pools in any UK university.[EITAL][PARA][PARA][ITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][EITAL][PARA]There are 2 main sports centres on the campus, including the 1 [PARA]with the pool and a sports hall, 4 squash courts, a climbing wall, [PARA]dance studio, multigym and solarium. The other, containing a [PARA]gym and shooting range, is in a converted chapel. There are 2 [PARA]more sports centres in the halls. The sports fields at Wyncote [PARA]Allerton are 4 miles from the campus but not too far from the [PARA]halls. Further away, there are more grounds at Maryton Grange [PARA]and Widnes served by University minibuses. Added extras [PARA]include the boat house at Knowsley Park and the outdoor activity [PARA]centre in Snowdonia in North Wales. The town and area make [PARA]up for [ITAL]the few shortcomings in the University provisions[EITAL]. Apart [PARA]from the Mersey for water sports, there are a number of sports [PARA]and leisure centres, [ITAL]some of which are excellent[EITAL] (Toxteth, [PARA]Everton, Kirkby, among others), and Pleasure Island for bowling, [PARA]Quasar, etc, has student rates.[HDNG]SPORTING CLUBS:[EHDNG][PARA]Badminton; Boat (rowing); Diving; Ju Jitsu; Kung Fu; Paragliding; [PARA]Rifle and Pistol; Rowing; Surfing; Track and Field; Triathlon; Ten [PARA]Pin Bowling; Volleyball; Water Polo; Windsurfing.[HDNG]ATTRACTIONS:[EHDNG][PARA][ITAL]The glories of Liverpool FC are on hold at the mo, but the Reds [PARA]are still worth a look.[EITAL] Don't forget Everton, or, indeed, the [ITAL]feisty[EITAL] [PARA]Tranmere Rovers. There's Aintree Race Course and many other[PARA]sporting sights.[PARA][PARA]
