This [PARA]is because no-one gets too party political at Lampeter. It's all [PARA]pretty liberal and tolerant. The SU sees itself as a services and [PARA]welfare organisation, rather than a political body. The increasing [PARA]number of students is causing concern because the facilities [PARA]aren't keeping up.[EITAL][ITAL][HDNG]SU FACILITIES:[EHDNG][EITAL][PARA]The SU's has new purpose-built accommodation, providing a bar,[PARA]cafeteria, restaurant, printing and photocopying, general shop, [PARA]travel service, TV room, function room, customised night club [PARA](Union Hall), pool table, juke box and vending machines and [PARA]minibus hire. The games arcade is the only one in Lampeter,[ITAL] and[PARA]is popular with local kids who've broken their Megadrives.[EITAL][HDNG]CLUBS (NON SPORTING):[EHDNG][PARA]Alternative Film Club; Amnesty; Art; Dr Who; Debating; Juggling; [PARA]Le Cercle Francaise; Plaid Cymru; Talking Hands.[HDNG]OTHER ORGANISATIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]3 times a term the SU publishes 'Union News'. '1822' is the [PARA]College's satirical magazine, 4 times a term. Lampeter's Rag [PARA]raised รบ6,000 last year [ITAL]which isn't bad considering the number of[PARA]people to raise money and to touch for cash[EITAL]. There is no student[PARA]community group; good relations make it unnecessary but there [PARA]are clubs which do voluntary work (see above).[HDNG]RELIGIOUS:[EHDNG][PARA][STAT][BULL] Chaplains (Christian)[ESTAT][PARA]The College has a chapel and mosque and there are local [PARA]churches. [ITAL]Other religions will find a bit of a deity drought.[EITAL][HDNG]PAID WORK:[EHDNG][PARA]The SU employs some student staff and there's a local organic [PARA]farm, [ITAL]but we're not talking major opportunities here[EITAL].
