Warrenfield is 3 [PARA]miles away and there's a hall in the landscaped grounds at the [PARA]Holly Bank site. All this however accommodates only a fraction [PARA]of the 1st years and that's it. 14% have to share (no mixed [PARA]quarters). The further students have come, the more likely they [PARA]are to get University accommodation. [ITAL]The situation may get [PARA]worse[EITAL] since the University is expanding at a rate of about 15% a [PARA]year, although a new site has just been acquired, with spaces for[PARA]1,500 punters, but it's 6 miles away and we don't know when it'll [PARA]be up and running.[HDNG]EXTERNALLY:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]A1[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Renting: 75% [BULL] Ave rent: ú30[ESTAT][PARA][BOLD]Availability:[EBOLD] [ITAL]Matters were getting worse, but students have now [PARA]accepted that, [EITAL]as the accommodation office points out, the [PARA]further away students are prepared to look, the better value they [PARA]will find. [ITAL]The best student nests are Birkby, Fartown, Lockwood [PARA]and Moldgreen. Sheepridge, Deaton and Brackenhall are a bit [PARA]rough, though, and worth avoiding.[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Housing help:[EBOLD] The Accommodation Office allocates places in [PARA]halls, [ITAL]but doesn't manage to be a great help in finding a roof over [PARA]students' heads.[EITAL] [ITAL]Ironically,[EITAL] the Accommodation Office itself is [PARA]housed in a portakabin (for the time being).
