The National Theatre on the South Bank is cheaper and features some of the country's top talent. Also, don't forget the Fringe (the collective title for all the smaller theatres around town, ranging from back rooms at pubs to full size auditoria)[ITAL] where you can often see high quality at low cost.[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos: [EBOLD][ITAL] [EITAL]Although London clubs are always at the very nub of any fashion scene, you pay for the privilege. At top nightspots, admission starts at around ú5 and drinks can be anything up to 5 times pub prices. There is, however, an ever-changing set of cheaper hang-outs where the latest sounds are available without the latest prices. Details (like a name) are sketchy at the mo, but we're talking an overall capacity of 2,500, a music/club venue (1,200), 2 bars, a [ITAL]top-notch[EITAL] sound system, free transport between the sites, and a 2 o'clock licence. All should be ready by the time you read this.[PARA][BOLD]Bars:[EBOLD] Apart from the above, 7 bars around the University, the most popular being the Top and Cellar Bars at Woolwich, and the Dartford Bar (good for events).[PARA][BOLD]Cinema:[EBOLD] The film club has recently shown Demolition Man, Naked and the Exorcist. [ITAL]The film, Naked, that is. Mr Stallone remained clothed throughout[EITAL].[PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos and music venues:[EBOLD] The SU runs discos on Thursdays and Fridays in the Cellar Bar (cap 600, adm ú2), which also occasionally features bands, such as Oui 3, Bad Manners, Jools Holland. On Saturdays student clubs often host events. The Main Hall (500) at Woolwich and the Avery Hill 'Ref' (refectory) are also used as music venues.[PARA][BOLD]Cabaret:[EBOLD] Cabaret nights weekly in the Cellar Bar, Jenny Eclair, Harry Hill and Bob Downe being recent visitors.[HDNG]EATING OUT:[EHDNG][PARA]The University provides refectories and cafeterias at all the campuses usually open from around 10am to 5pm. [ITAL]The standard and value is fairly good.[EITAL] However, if students can't digest the thought of institutional food, there are local eateries of all sorts close to all the sites.
