[HDNG]INTRODUCTION:[EHDNG][PARA][BULL] The College is part of University of Cambridge and students are entitled to use its facilities.[EBOLD][PARA]If you want to cause a sudden embarrassed hush at parties say 'Maggdallin', but to flow with wit and wisdom pronounce it correctly as 'Maudlin'. The atmosphere at this college, 700 yards from King's Parade and with more river frontage than any other, is [ITAL]certainly not maudlin and the social scene, which revolves around the bar, is simply spinning. [EITAL]Magdalene is one of the smaller colleges[ITAL] and [EITAL]a[ITAL] strong team spirit pervades. This can stifle individuality, and the college has image problems within the University. Women are a recent innovation, and some have yet to come to terms with them. [EITAL]The College includes [ITAL]pleasant [EITAL]features such as the medieval and 15th and 16th century courts and Pepy's Library (which was started by Samuel himself in the day when they ate formal dinners by candle-light every night), but [ITAL]unfortunately, it hasn't escaped[EITAL] [ITAL]clumsy [EITAL]post-war architecture for some residential blocks.[PARA][PARA]Bar; concerts in Benson Hall (cap 100) and student bands in Ramsay Hall (150); 3 discos a term; biennial ball ([ITAL]very posh[EITAL]) [ITAL]trendy [EITAL]eateries surrounding the College. 'Ars Magna' College mag. 4 libraries; 8 computers; CofE chapel. [ITAL]Good [EITAL]sports fields (8 acres) 500 yards shared with [ULNE]St John's[EULNE]. All students live in; [ITAL]okay [EITAL]self catering facilities; most eat in the college dining halls ([ITAL]good food[EITAL]).
