[HDNG]IN COLLEGE:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]A3[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Self-catering: 46% [BULL] Cost: ú37/45 (36wks)[ESTAT][PARA][BOLD]Availability:[EBOLD] 75% of 1st years live in halls, and 84% of finalists, [ITAL][PARA]which seems a bit odd[EITAL]. There are 5 halls on the Uxbridge [PARA]campus, including the posh new Faraday and Mill Halls (which [PARA]have [ITAL]en suite[EITAL] bathrooms in each room). All the students based at[PARA]the Runnymede site, about 450 (not many women) are [PARA]accommodated in the halls there. Cooking facilities are shared [PARA]between groups of about 10 students, 1 launderette to each hall. [PARA]All the halls are mixed sexes, although they're split into separate [PARA]floors. There are 55 units for married couples.[PARA][BOLD]Car parking:[EBOLD] Plenty of free parking (permit required) [ITAL]but students [PARA]will insist on trying to park as close to the hall doors as possible [PARA]and complain if they have to walk 10 yards.[EITAL][HDNG]EXTERNALLY:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]A3[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Renting: 50% [BULL] Ave rent: ú45[ESTAT][PARA][BOLD]Availability:[EBOLD] Most students set up camp in Hayes, within 3 miles [PARA]of the campus, mostly in shared houses and flats. [ITAL]Southall is a [PARA]bit rougher, a bit cheaper, a bit further away and a lot less [PARA]popular. There are enough vacancies for students to have some [PARA]choice in the matter. [EITAL]Uxbridge is[ITAL] not enormously welcoming, but [PARA]not as bad as Egham[EITAL] where student bashing has been declared [PARA]a local sport on a few recent occasions.[PARA][BOLD]Housing help:[EBOLD] The University operates an Accommodation Office[PARA]with full time staff. Student get 3 names and have to go back if [PARA]none of them come up trumps ([ITAL]none too helpful[EITAL]). The SU helps [PARA]with contracts and provides a housing pack. [ITAL]Most students [PARA]reckon they're just as well off on their own.[EITAL][PARA][PARA]
