[HDNG]BATH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' UNION:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]P5[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] 6 sabbatical [BULL] Turnout at last ballot: 17% [BULL] Ave. turnout at [PARA]General Meetings: 3% [BULL] NUS member [ESTAT][PARA][ITAL]BUSU's an odd union. Firstly, students have to register for [PARA]membership (which is free) - membership is almost universal [PARA]anyway. BUSU's also quite carefully apolitical even though its [PARA]representative role is quite important - nobody stands for election [PARA]on party platforms. Underlying all this, is a general apathy about [PARA]the whole political thing anyway. Socially, BUSU is not exactly [PARA]super-glue and the University lacks a single focal point.[EITAL][HDNG]SU FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]BUSU is based in Norwood House with some of the University [PARA]facilities, like one of the refectories and a bar. BUSU offers a [PARA]coffee bar, travel agency, shop, 4 minibuses and 1 car for hire, [PARA]printing and photocopying, photo booth, newsagent/post office, [PARA]Endsleigh insurance branch, games and vending machines, TV [PARA]lounge, pool tables and a juke box. All 4 major banks also have [PARA]branches on campus (with cashpoints) and there is a grocers, [PARA]newsagent and bookshop.[HDNG]CLUBS (NON SPORTING):[EHDNG][PARA]Adventure Gaming; Amateur Radio; Amnesty; Arab; Asian; [PARA]Backstage; Bang (Christian); Ballroom Dancing; Bapsoc (Baptist);[PARA]Balls Up (Juggling); Boom-Bang-A-Bong (Live Music); Bugs [PARA](scouts/guides); Ceilidh; Debsoc (Debates); Life (anti-abortion); [PARA]Methodist; Real Ale; Square Pegs (Gay); Wine; Wombats (more [PARA]Christians).[HDNG]OTHER ORGANISATIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]BUSU publishes the weekly 'Sponge', but 'Spike', an independent[PARA]free magazine, is the [ITAL]real [EITAL]Bath student press. University Radio [PARA]Bath, run by BUSU, is the [ITAL]successful and well-equipped[EITAL] student [PARA]radio station. Campus Television (CTV) broadcasts on a closed [PARA]circuit network to BUSU's TV lounge, showing its own [PARA]programmes and movies courtesy of satellite stations. Students [PARA]take part in the Bath area charity Rag which has a sabbatical [PARA]co-ordinator and raised รบ80,000 last year. They also operate their[PARA]own Community Action group which runs a number of projects [PARA]in the local area.[HDNG]RELIGIOUS:[EHDNG][PARA][STAT][BULL] 6 chaplains (CofE, RC, Baptist, Methodist, Quaker, Jewish)[ESTAT][PARA]The Chaplaincy Centre in the middle of the campus is the base [PARA]for all religions (but with a Christian slant). The city, with its [PARA]Abbey, churches, Hindu temple and mosque, provides for other [PARA]religious needs.[HDNG]PAID WORK:[EHDNG][PARA]Tourism always provides a little seasonal work.[PARA][PARA]
