Many 2nd years live in as well, but students are usually on their own for the last 2 years. The halls themselves, in 3 groups, [ITAL]are well-equipped modern blocks set in pleasant grounds[EITAL]. The Hillhead Halls are the largest set, about 3/4 of a mile north of King's, a mixture of halls (with tiny rooms) and flats, housing 1,700 students in all and soon to be expanded by 500 making it the 2nd largest residence in Europe. Dunbar and Crombie-Johnston Halls are closer. There are cheap areas like Sandilands, but it's too rough to make it worth it; students are better off in Ferry Hill, King St, Urquhart Rd and Rosemount for example.
