[HDNG]INTRODUCTION:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]S2[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Recent successes: nothing special [ESTAT][PARA]Sports are organised by the Athletics Association, the President of which is a sabbatical officer, [ITAL]indicating the seriousness with which sport is taken. However, students are better at getting involved for a bit of a giggle than competing successfully. [EITAL]There are minimal charges for facilities (eg 40p squash court hire).[PARA][PARA][ITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][EITAL][PARA]Most facilities are based on 2 sites. The Butchart Recreation Centre at King's contains a sports hall, gym, weights room, 4 squash courts and a climbing wall. Also at King's, there are a swimming pool, 2 more squash courts, playing fields and 3 all-weather tennis courts (or sometimes 1 all-weather pitch instead). However, the main sports fields are at Balgownie, 2 miles north, where there are more playing fields (bringing the total to just under 20 acres), a running track, golf course and dry ski slope. Elsewhere, the University has a boathouse on the River Dee, a glider at Aboyne and a mountain hut at Lochnagar.[HDNG]SPORTING CLUBS:[EHDNG][PARA]Aikido; Boxing; Bridge; Cross Country; Gliding; Hare and Hound; Jiu Jitsu; Korfball; Lairig; Life Saving; Potholing and Caving; Octopush; Shinty; Small Arms (like pistols, not stunted limbs); Weightlifting; Windsurfing.[HDNG]ATTRACTIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]The local football team is Aberdeen FC, alias 'the Dons'.[PARA][PARA]
