  3. Thank you for your interest in the CompuServe Information Manager(tm) for 
  4. OS/2 - CIM for OS/2 (tm).
  5.  
  6. A rich context-sensitive Help feature can be accessed from any area of CIM 
  7. for OS/2 by hitting the F1 key.
  8.  
  9. You can obtain information on the current status of CIM for OS/2 and 
  10. additional release information by accessing the GO OS2CIM area on CompuServe.
  11.  
  12. You can also obtain help and support through the CIM for OS/2 Support Forum 
  13. (GO OCIMSUPPORT).  This forum is devoted to CIM for OS/2 and is staffed by 
  14. representatives from CompuServe's Customer Service department.  This area is
  15. also free of connect charges.

  18. Release Notes:
  19. ==============
  20. The new filing cabinet provided in this release of CIM for OS/2 contains a 
  21. full-text search option and stores the records in a database type format.
  22. The full-text searching can be accessed by selecting Mail > Search Filing 
  23. cabinet from the pull-down menu.
  24.  
  25. Should you care to have multiple filing cabinets or if your filing cabinet 
  26. database becomes corrupted, the filing cabinet database is accessible and 
  27. uncompressed on the install disk set.  You can copy the file FCABINET.CIF 
  28. from the install disk set over a corrupted filing cabinet or into a separate 
  29. directory on your hard drive.  The directory information for which filing 
  30. cabinet is currently being accessed is stored in the Filing Cabinet directory 
  31. field under the Directories tab in Preferences.

  33. CIM for OS/2 may not correctly display extended characters stored by a 
  34. previous version of CIM due to the Latin-1 support provided in OS/2 
  35. (examples : å ë í " ù - this was written with code page 437).
  36. CIM for OS/2 stores all information locally using the local Latin-1 code page.
  37. Since the Windows and OS/2 code pages differ slightly, some extended 
  38. characters may not appear correctly when using files created by other CIM 
  39. products.  This will affect all support file including the filing cabinet and 
  40. address book.

  43. Known Problems:
  44. ===============
  45. During the final review of CIM for OS/2, we have uncovered a few minor 
  46. problems that we hope will not affect your enjoyment of the product.
  47. They are as follows:
  48.  
  49. o The filing cabinet server will sometimes leave 0 byte temporary files in 
  50.   the \CSERVE\OS2-CIM directory (IO????.TMP) if the server crashes or is
  51.   shut down improperly.  These files are unnecessary after you have exited 
  52.   CIM for OS/2 and can be deleted.
  53.  
  54. o When retrieving large volumes of forum messages, the section count will
  55.   reset to one when CIM for OS/2 fetches more message summaries from the
  56.   host.  This is only a cosmetic issue and all of the marked messages will
  57.   be retrieved.
  58.  
  59. o There are some cases when you select to delete a forum message while in
  60.   particular forum that CIM for OS/2 will delete the message locally from
  61.   the filing cabinet instead of from the CompuServe host.  If you re-enter
  62.   the forum and select to delete the message again, it will properly be
  63.   deleted from the host.
  64.  
  65. o Paste From an ENS story in the filing cabinet does not work properly.
  66.   If you need to paste from and ENS story, you can open up the story from 
  67.   the filing cabinet and cut and paste the text into a mail message using 
  68.   the Cut and Paste functions from the Edit pulldown.
  69.  
  70. o Setting the message date back in a forum after reading your all of your
  71.   waiting messages will not properly disable the waiting messages icon.
  72.  
  73. o Viewing a GIF file from your hard drive while in some areas (ie. Maps)
  74.   will cause the send/receive lights to appear unnecessarily.
  75.  
  76. o When browsing messages in a forum, the message display dialog will not
  77.   initially have focus.
  78.  
  79. o Setting the message date in a forum to sometime in the future will cause
  80.   a single message to appear when there should be zero.
  81.  
  82. o When two modal dialogs are on the screen, you can set focus on the first
  83.   modal dialog although none of the controls will be activated.
  84.  
  85. o When you have no private folders when you enter the ENS (Executive News 
  86.   Service) area, no dialog will have focus.
  87.  
  88. o Canceling a Membership Sign-up will cause the billing type field to revert
  89.   back to VISA.
