- Switcheroo - a sound sample randomizer.
- ---------------------------------------
- REVISION HISTORY
- =======================================
-
- Version 1.0
- -----------
-
- Why randomize sounds? Well, I have, over the years, collected lots of
- wacky sound samples that I use as the default beep, message beeps,
- and compiler result sounds. But by the end of a day, these sounds
- begin to grate - especially if there is anyone else in the vicinity
- that has to put up with them as well. The solution - have them change
- automatically.
-
- Switcheroo comes in two halves - an applet that lives in the taskbar,
- and a control panel style program that allows you to set up your sound
- choices. When switcheroo is running, it will randomize the windows
- sound events based on your selections.
-
- The reason for splitting it into two halves is to keep the memory
- requirements low - the randomizer itself only requires 35K to run
- (although it will appear as more in task lists due to it using
- shared .DLLs) - I think this is important for a program that is
- meant to be running all the time.
-
- Change your settings from the control program either by finding it in
- the start menu, or by right clicking the taskbar icon. You can also
- turn randomization off and on from there.
-
- Version 1.0.1

- The list of files can now be added to using drag & drop. Thanks to
- Michael Wood for the suggestion!
-
-
- Version 1.2
- -----------
-
- Some more changes & enhancements
-
- Changer applet (Switcheroo.exe) :
-
- * two command line options have been added:
- -notaskbar = run silently without the taskbar icon.
- -onceonly = randomize sounds once, then quit.
-
- Control panel (SwitchCp.exe) :
-
- * Focus returns properly to sample list after a 'Remove'.
- * Sample list is now multiple-select.
- * Sample list now supports 'cut' and 'paste' filenames (to make it
- easy to transfer lists of samples between events.
- * Sample list uses windows hotkeys (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Del)
- * Minor bug fixed with 'Randomize Now' button when Registry entry
- has been deleted.
-
- To do (maybe)
- -------------
-
- * Turn the settings program into a proper Control Panel application.
-
- * Randomization of other things (wallpapers... colours?
-
-
- Notes
- -----
-
- Switcheroo is FREEWARE. You may copy it freely to anyone and everyone.
- You may not charge for doing so (unless the charge is for something
- else - i.e. you can include it on magazine cover CDs).
-
- I don't know who drew the icon - I found it in a big icon collection
- on the internet and it seemed appropriate. Hopefully they don't mind
- me using it.
