-
- A shareware sound event randomizer for Windows 95.
- Now with wallpaper and screen saver randomization,
- and Program Events Wizard.
-
- IMPORTANT: You need Vb40032.dll in your Windows\System directory
- to install and run this program. See below for details....

-
- **************** 1. OVERVIEW *******************
-
- What does this program do?
- You can arrange a list of wav files, and assign this list to a
- single sound event. For example, let's say your sound event
- for Empty Recycle Bin is flush.wav. Now you can select as many
- files as you want, let's say flush.wav, nuke.wav, shred.wav,
- and more if you wish. Now whenever you empty the recycle bin
- you will hear either a flush, nuke, or shred sound. Soundscape
- will randomize these sounds automatically, depending on your
- preferred settings.
-
- Every sound event list operates independently. That means you
- can set multiple sound events to a single WAV file, and a single
- sound event to multiple WAV files, etc. to an infinite number
- of combinations.
-
- You can also arrange a list of BMP files to let Soundscape
- automatically randomize your desktop wallpaper, and a list
- of SCR files to randomize your screen saver.
- The Program Events Wizard will let you set up different
- sound events for individual programs.
-
- ******************* 2. SETUP PROCEDURES ********************
-
- You must run Setup to 1. install program files, 2. install DLL's and OCX's,
- 3. initiate the sound event list and 4. initiate your evaluation
- license. For more information on what Setup actually does,
- see the Help file (after installation).
-
- You need the file Vb40032.dll in your Windows\System directory.
- You probably already have it so it's not included with Setup,
- but if you don't, you can get it on the Web the Soundscape page
- (or other resources on the Internet):

-
- ******************* 3. SHAREWARE ********************

- 30 days, after which you must either uninstall the program
- or register. If you find this program useful, please register

- ******************* 4. LICENSE AGREEMENT ***************
-
- Before installing this software you must agree to the terms of this
- license agreement. Installation of software indicates your acceptance
- of the following license agreement.
-
- As this program is shareware, you are granted an EVALUATION LICENSE
- which is valid for 30 days. After 30 days, you are required to
- either register the software (see "Shareware") or uninstall it from
- your computer.
-
- A "registered" copy of the software is a copy of the program with
- valid registration numbers entered (in the registry). An "unregistered"
- or "evaluation" copy of the software has no valid registration
- numbers entered (in the registry). All "unregistered" copies of
- this software have a "nag screen" that pops up when the program
- starts. A "registered" copy lacks the nag screen.
-
- You are allowed to distribute the evaluation portion of this program,
- but not to distribute any registration information or files that
- would allow someone else who hasn't registered to have a "registered"
- copy. (Registration information is contained in the Windows 95 registry.)
-
- You may not reverse engineer or decompile this software.
-
- Although a reasonable effort has been made to fully debug this
- program, the author or distributors of this program under no
- circumstances will be held liable for any damages, in any form,
- resulting from this program. The author will not be required to refund
- registration fees under any circumstances.
-
- This program modifies the files system.ini, system.dat, and user.dat,
- all in your Windows\System directory. Although nothing will normally
- go wrong, it is recommended to back up these files.
-
- ******************* 5. MANUAL INSTALLATION ********************
-
- Recommended only for advanced users who have trouble with Setup.
-
- Shared files: copy Mfc40.dll, Msvcrt40.dll, Olepro32.dll,
- Comctl32.ocx, Comdlg32.ocx, and Fmdrop32.ocx to your Windows\System
- directory. Register the OCX's by typing
- regsvr32 ***.ocx
- at the Start > Run prompt where ***.ocx is the name of each OCX file.
- Copy all the other files included in this zip to your preferred
- installation directory and rename the files as such:
- .da_ --> .dat
- .cn_ --> .cnt
- .ex_ --> .exe
- .gi_ --> .gid
- .hl_ --> .hlp
- You don't need to copy Setup.exe and Stkit432.dll.
- If you install Soundscape this way, your evaluation license will
- not be initialized properly, but you should still be able to
- use it.
-
