  5. This driver supports the following Trident chipsets:
  6.  
  7.         9400CXi VL
  8.         9420DGi VL/PCI
  9.         9440AGi VL
  10.  
  11. On the above chipsets, the following resolutions and color depths 
  12. are supported:
  13.  
  14.         640x480x256
  15.         800x600x256
  16.         1024x768x256
  17.         640x480x64K
  18.         800x600x64K
  19.         640x480x16.7M
  20.  
  21. Additionally, the driver is known to work with the 8900C, 8900CL, and 8900D,
  22. and 9000i, though the resolution and color depth attainable will 
  23. depend on the DAC and amount of video memory used on your video card.  Those 
  24. with 8-bit DAC's (which have a limit of 256 colors) should use the "Trident 
  25. SuperVGA" driver included with the Microsoft distribution of Windows 95.

  27. To install:
  28.         Go to the Windows '95 Control Panel select "Display".  Choose the 
  29. "Settings" page and click on the "Change Display Type" button to change the 
  30. adapter type.  Click on "Change" next to "Adapter Type", and a "Select Device"
  31. page will appear.  Click on "Show all devices" and choose "Standard display
  32. type" under "Manufacturers" list and choose "Standard Display Adapter (VGA)" 
  33. under "Models".  Click on "OK" and perform a shutdown to restart the computer.  
  34. Once Windows '95 is restarted, go back into Control Panel and click on 
  35. "Display".  Click on the "Settings" page and click on "Change Display Type".
  36. Click on "Change" next to Adapter Type.  On the "Select Device" page, click
  37. on "Have Disk" button.  Insert the diskette with the Trident Windows '95 
  38. drivers or specify where the drivers are located, then click  the "OK" button.
  39. If the model name that now appears matches the device you have, click on "OK"
  40. to proceed.  Otherwise click "Show All Devices" to list all the Trident non-
  41. accelerated devices available.  Pick the device that matches the chip and
  42. configuration you have, then click "OK".  After the appropriate files are 
  43. copied, close the "Change Display Type" window so that you can select the 
  44. "Color Palette" and "Desktop Area" that you want.  Restart your computer to
  45. activate the new video mode you have selected.
