  1. The Barking Cards Lite Readme File  6/3/98

  3. This Barking Cards 1998 Father's Day version is brought
  4. to you by Blaze Technologies, Inc.  It includes two 
  5. of our favorite cards for you to personalize and send. 
  6. You can customize the text in the cards, add more text, add
  7. photos, images or clip art, record voice messages or add 
  8. pre-recorded sounds.  When you're done personalizing a card, simply 
  9. hit the DONE button on Main Editing screen and follow the instructions
  10. for saving the card.  You can then send the self playing card to your
  11. recipient by attaching it to an email or by saving it to diskette and
  12. sending the diskette.  You'll need a system with the following minimum
  13. configuration to create and send the card (it can be SENT to anyone 
  14. with a Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 system):

  16. - 486DX (or higher) IBM PC compatible 
  17. - 8 MB of RAM
  18. - 7 MB of available disk space
  19. - VGA or higher Video board
  20. - Sound card (if you want them to hear the sounds)

  37. To Install the product:
  38.  
  39. 1. Use an unzipping program (like PKUNZIP) to unzip the BCFATh98.ZIP
  40. file into a temporary directory.
  41. 2. Run the Setup.exe program from that directory and follow the 
  42. instructions.  
  43.  
  44. Barking Cards Lite is a trial version of our Barking Cards 
  45. product line.  You may use it for 30 days to evaluate our products
  46. it provided you agree to the licensing terms for evaluation users 
  47. in the LICENSE.TXT file. If you don't agree to the terms then you
  48. should remove our product from your computer.  
  49.  
  50. NOTE:  Our Lite versions only support the import of BMP images.  Our
  51. full collections support import of many more formats.  
  52.  
  53. The Barking Cards Lite software may be distributed freely in the
  54. original form (i.e. BCFATH98.ZIP) as downloaded from from any of Blaze 
  55. Technologies' authorized distribution outlets.  You are not permitted 
  56. to modify the software from its original form, and you are not 
  57. permitted to distribute any installed copy or separate files.
  58. Please refer to the licensing agreement (LICENSE.TXT) for more 
  59. information.

  67. features over 90 cards for a low price of $39.95.
  68. We also sell two smaller editions, the Barking Cards Birthday
  69. Edition ($9.95) and the Barking Cards Romance Edition ($9.95).

  71. choose the ORDER FORM option from the Barking Cards
  72. Lite program group.

  75. TROUBLESHOOTING:
  76.  
  77. 1. Installation Issues:  
  78.  
  79. a) There have been reports of "This program has performed an illegal 
  80. operation" errors during install on some IBM Aptiva computers. 
  81. It seems that the version of Windows95 that ships with some Aptivas 
  82. includes a corrupt ODBCCP32.DLL file which can be found in the 
  83. Windows/System directory.  The file should have a size over 90K 
  84. but the corrupt version is only 6K.  If you find this is the
  85. case during installation, temporarily rename the corrupt ODBCCP32.DLL
  86. file to a new name before retrying the installation.  Then proceed with
  87. the installation which should now work.  After Barking Cards is 
  88. installed you can go back and rename the corrupt file back to 
  89. ODBCCP32.DLL.

  91. b) On some systems, at the conclusion of the installation an error
  92. message appears, "_ins0432  This program has performed an illegal 
  93. operation".  This is an Installshield message and it occurs after 
  94. all the files have been successfully installed.  It can be disregarded 
  95. because Barking Cards Volume II will operate correctly.

  99. c) Pause/Quit toolbar is centered on the screen. 
  100.  
  101. If you run a Barking Card and the Pause/Quit toolbar displays in the
  102. center of the card, you need to adjust the settings of your video 
  103. card.  To change this, 
  104.   
  105.    - Hit the Start Button 
  106.    - Go to Settings 
  107.    - Select Control Panel 
  108.    - Choose Display 
  109.    - Then Settings 
  110.    - Then change the Center Dialog Box setting
