  41. Troubleshooting.
  42.  
  43. Q:  I cannot get the game to work at all with my computer?
  44.  
  45. A:  The most common cause of problems with a  Windows 95 native product are the
  46.     incompatibilities with Directx and the Hardware. If you are having trouble
  47.     with sound or video with a native Windows 95 game, there is a possibility
  48.     that some of your hardware is experiencing difficulty communicating with
  49.     the Microsoft Directx Drivers. To test your current Drivers for Directx
  50.     compatibility, click on your 'start' button at the left hand corner of your
  51.     task bar, then select 'Find' and then 'Files or Folders. In the 'Named'
  52.     selection, type in 'DXSETUP' and hit the return key, this should locate
  53.     the file 'DXSETUP.EXE' now double click on 'DXSETUP.EXE' to launch it.
  54.     This will bring up a small box that displays your current Directx drivers
  55.     down the left hand side and their status to the right, all directx drivers
  56.     need to be certified, if any have spaces next to them you will need to
  57.     update that driver.

  59.     If for example your 'Primary Display Driver' is not certified then you
  60.     will need to contact either Microsoft or the  manufacturer of your video
  61.     card and get them to send you a set of their latest Directx certified
  62.     drivers, you will then need to install these on your machine and run
  63.     'DXSETUP.EXE' to check that all your drivers are now certified.

  65. Q:  Whenever I try to play the game, all the colours appear to be incorrect.
  66.  
  67. A:  Most of our current Windows 95 titles are designed to run at a display
  68.     setting of 640 x 480 with 256 colors. If you are trying to start a
  69.     Windows 95 game and are experiencing strange colors or the game does not
  70.     start at all then try changing your display settings. Right click on your
  71.     desktop and click on the 'setting'  tab and change your 'color palette'
  72.     to 256 colors and your 'desktop area' to 640 x 480. Reboot you machine
  73.     and now try starting your game again.
  74.  
  75. Q:  When the game is played, there is no audio.
  76.  
  77. A:  If you are having any sound problems with your game make sure all of your
  78.     DirectX Drivers are certified (See DirectX Problems).
  79.     Not having the correct sound drivers can cause your machine to lock, make
  80.     the screen go blank or not give you any sound. If you experience any of
  81.     these problems contact your Sound Card manufacturer and get them to send
  82.     you their latest drivers.

  84. Q:  Whenever I play the game using the keyboard, if a certain combination of
  85.     keys are pressed then I get no response.
  86.  
  87. A:  Certain types of keyboard will have no response when a sequence of keys
  88.     are pressed at the same time. This is a keyboard hardware fault. If you
  89.     experience this problem, try the alternate trim keys.
  90.  
  91. Q:  Whenever I try to play Powerboat Racing in 3D Hardware accelerated mode
  92.     with my 3D graphics card, the game will not work.
  93.  
  94. A:  Powerboat Racing supports hardware cards via D3D.  At the time of
  95.     release of this demo, certain cards e.g. PowerVR are yet to receive final
  96.     testing and driver updates.
  97.  
  98. Q:  Occasionally when I play the game using a 3DFX card, I get black lines
  99.     across the water.
  100.  
  101. A:  This is not a problem with the game or your computer, but the drivers that
  102.     are being using with the 3DFX card.  Go to your video card manufacturer's
  103.     web site and download the latest set of drivers.
  104.
