  12. 1. What's in the Demo
  13. One whole City.  Liberty City.  Over 2000km of roads to play in.  \
  14. Four missions .  Hundreds of cars and millions of inhabitants.  Have fun!

  17. You're limited to about 6 minutes of gameplay.

  21. There are three different versions of the GTA demo.  An 8 BIT COLOUR version.
  22. A 24 BIT COLOUR version and a version with both of these.  If you've taken
  23. this demo from a magazine cover disk, you will probably have both versions.
  24. If you have downloaded this demo from the Internet - you will have
  25. chosen either the 8 or 24 bit version.

  28. 2. System Requirements
  29. Minimum Spec : 486 DX4 / 100 MHz processor + 16 Mb of RAM + 512Kb VESA
  30. compatible SVGA graphics card.

  32. Recommended System : 100MHz Pentium processor + 16Mb of RAM + 2Mb VESA

  37. 3. Installation
  38. Run GTA.bat from the CD-ROM.  There are two music files included with
  39. the demo.  If you would like these to play during the game, leave
  40. the CD-ROM in the drive when you run GTA.

  43. 4. Running the game
  44. Type GTA from DOS .
  45.

  47. GTA will automatically run the UniVBE and Miles utilities to configure
  48. your graphics and sound cards.

  50. 5.  Keys
  51. There are two key configurations you can choose from Default and Classic.

  66. F1, F2,
  67. F3, F4        :  F1 - F3 keys are used in multi-player games to send    
  68.  messages to your opponents.  F4 Sends a message to all players.
  69. F5        :  Retune your car radio.
  70. F6        :  Pause Game
  71. F7        :  Repeat Last Pager Message
  72. F9        :  Display Area Name.
  73. F10        :  Repeat last message received.
  74. ESC        :  Quit Game
  75. F11        :  Screen Mode.  This key allows you to choose the
  76.                    screen mode most suitable for  your PC.

  79. 6.  Playing the game.
  80. - You start out alone and unloved on the grim streets of Liberty City.
  81.   You work for a fat, sweaty mobster called Bubby.  He will contact you
  82.   at one of the payphones within the city with details of a job.
  83.  
  84. - To find the payphones, follow the yellow arrow.  Once you've been given
  85.   a mission, the arrow will direct you towards your next goal.

  87. - To answer a payphone, walk over it.
  88.  
  89. - When you complete a mission, your bonus multiplier will be incremented.
  90.   The more missions you complete, the higher you score.
  91.  
  92. - The crates scattered around the city contain power ups.  To pick up a
  93.   power up, destroy the crate.

  95. - If you commit a crime, it will be reported to the Police.  The more
  96.   crimes you commit, the more your Police wanted level will go up.

  98. - Explore.  The hundreds of hidden areas and secret power ups to find
  99.   around the city.
