- Hexagonal Minesweeper is a six-sided alternative to a certain square version
- of this game with which you may already be familiar. You may notice several
- similarities in terms of look, interface, and Help wording; but the subtle
- strategies of a hexagonal minefield differ quite a bit from those of a square
- one.
-
- Like its square stepfather, Hexagonal Minesweeper may only be run from
- inside Microsoft Windows. However, version 3.1 of Windows is not necessary;
- you only need Windows 3.0 or later to play the game.
-
- To install this game on your system, copy the three other files in this
- archive -- HEXSWEEP.EXE, HEXSWEEP.HLP, and HEXFONTS.FON -- to your hard
- disk. Then, from the Windows Program Manager (or another shell such as the
- Norton Desktop), select the Games group icon/window (if you still have one),
- choose "New... / Program Item" from the main menu, and type in the full path
- name (including the directory you copied it to) of HEXSWEEP.EXE. This will
- create a program item for Hexagonal Minesweeper; just double-click on the
- icon to begin the fun.
-
- Hexagonal Minesweeper is shareware. This means you are allowed to use it for
- a trial period, but if you find that you like it and wish to keep using it,
- you should pay a registration fee so that you can legitimately own this copy
- of the game and help keep its authors in business. (Registration also brings
- you an improved version of the software; see the Help screen of this game for
- details and instructions.) Being shareware also means that you are free to
- copy and distribute this software package to anyone you like, PROVIDED that
- the entire program distribution -- all four files, including this README file
- -- are included in the copies you make.
