  12.      As a direct result of the growing investment of time and effort
  13.      placed into this application, ESS-Code is now a SHAREWARE product.
  14.  
  15.      Users who register ESS-Code will receive a disk with the latest
  16.      version of ESS-Code (optimized), and a registered (optimized,
  17.      personalized) version of MasterBrowse (which also includes MasterPrint,
  18.      AutoDate, ACC-Pad, ShadowTerm II, and a coupon for a free catalog from
  19.      Suzy B's Software and a $3 credit toward the purchase of a disk from
  20.      the Suzy B's Software collection).

  22.      The continued development of ESS-Code depends _solely_ on user
  23.      contributions; if no such contributions are received, this
  24.      application will not be developed further.

  31. NEW FEATURE:  ESS-Code now supports MIME-Encoding/MIME-Decoding.  The
  32.               MIME conversion method is rapidly replacing all other
  33.               conversion methods; it is not as fast as some, but it
  34.               generates very compact output and is extremely
  35.               reliable.  The MIME conversion method is supported on the
  36.               UNIX, Amiga, Macintosh, IBM, and Atari computer
  37.               platforms.

  39. NEW FEATURE:  ESS-Code now has an expanded command line interface; the
  40.               previous command line interface is still present (for use
  41.               as an installed application).  The new method consists of
  42.               eight possible commands; the commands are not case
  43.               sensitive, but the commands and arguments must appear in
  44.               exactly the order shown below:

  46.                    -uue     [source] [destination file]
  47.                    -uud     [source] [destination file]
  48.                    -btoa    [source] [destination file]
  49.                    -atob    [source] [destination file]
  50.                    -ship    [source] [destination file]
  51.                    -unship  [destination file] [source] [source] [...]
  52.                    -mime    [source] [destination file]
  53.                    -unmime  [source] [destination file]

  55.               For control over the segment size, use the "SEGSIZE"
  56.               environment variable.  If ESS-Code is called in
  57.               command line mode, it will set the segment size
  58.               according to the value in that environment variable.

  60. NEW FEATURE:  The entire ESS-Code manual is now available at any time
  61.               from within ESS-Code (if the ST-Guide accessory is
  62.               installed).  By making the online help external, the
  63.               overall program size is reduced and the quality of the
  64.               online help is vastly improved.  If you want to move the
  65.               "ESSCODE.HYP" file out of the ESS-Code directory, you 
  66.               must define the "ESSHELP" environment variable; it should 
  67.               contain the full pathname of "ESSCODE.HYP".

  69.               ST-Guide is available on many FTP sites, commercial services,
  70.               and public access bulletin board systems.  If requested,
  71.               a copy of the ST-Guide archive can be placed on the disk
  72.               sent to registered users.

  76. NEW FEATURE:  ESS-Code can now handle MIME-Encode/MIME-Decode requests
  77.               from the operating system, or when ESS-Code is called as
  78.               an installed application.  Valid extensions for a 
  79.               MIME-Encoded file are ".M", ".MIM", & ".MIME" (case
  80.               sensitive).
