  1. Sticky Notes! 3.0 Demonstration Version Read Me File

  3. Thanks for downloading Sticky Notes! version 3.0, a product of User Friendly 
  4. Software.  We hope you get much use from our product.  This demonstration 
  5. version works the same as the full-featured registration version EXCEPT that 
  6. you are limited to five (5) notes on your Windows Desktop.  The HELP file 
  7. that is distributed with this version is the same as that of the full-featured 
  8. version, so wherever it says that you can "put as many notes up as you have 
  9. Windows resources to hold", well... Just disregard that part.  When you 
  10. attempt to put up the sixth note (as I'm sure everyone will do), you will be 
  11. politely reminded that this is just a demonstration version.

  13. How to Install Sticky Notes!
  14. ====================================================
  15. Since you are reading this README file, one can assume that you have already
  16. successfully unzipped this file from it's PKZIP 2.0 format.  Once that is 
  17. accomplished, Sticky Notes! can be installed from Windows Program Manager 
  18. by running SETUP.EXE from the subdirectory where you unzipped it.  SETUP 
  19. will create the subdirectory "C:\STKYNOTE" by default.  Should you desire 
  20. an alternate location, overtype the default location and press <Enter>.

  22. The following files are decompressed:

  31. Note: If SETUP should find later versions of VBRUN300.DLL, PICCLIP.VBX or 
  32. VER.DLL, it will NOT overwrite them.

  34. After all the files are decompressed, SETUP creates a Program Manager Group
  35. and puts in icons for Sticky Notes! and Sticky Notes! Help.
  36.  
  37. Sticky Notes! puts it's data file into the Windows subdirectory by default, 
  38. in a file called STKYNOTE.DAT.  Even though it is a text file, we do not 
  39. recommend that you go in with a text editor and modify it.

  41. Starting Sticky Notes! at Windows Startup time
  42. ====================================================
  43. There are two techniques.
  44.  
  45. 1.  If you have a Startup program group, drag a copy of the Sticky Notes!
  46. icon to it.  For more information on dragging, see your Windows manual.
  47.  
  48. 2.  In your WIN.INI file, look for the section "[windows]", and the entry
  49. "run=".  Alter this line to appear thusly: "run=C:\STKYNOTE\STKYNOTE.EXE".
  50. This assumes that there are no other entries on the "run=" line and that 
  51. Sticky Notes! was installed in the default subdirectory.

  53. Technical Support
  54. ====================================================
  55. Technical support is only available to Registered Users.  Registered users 
  56. will receive free technical support for six months.  When the Registration 
  57. is received, a packet will be sent with instructions on how and where to 
  58. call for support.  Further technical support can be purchased in increments 
  59. of one year for a reasonable price.
