  25. When you run the sampler the following files will be created in

  38. [Remove]
  39.  
  40. The Opus 'n Bill On The Road Again Sampler does not make changes
  41. to any of your .INI files or to your AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS 
  42. files. It should be very easy to cleanly remove the sampler when 
  43. you upgrade to the full-featured screen saver.
  44.  
  45. To remove the Opus 'n Bill On The Road Again Sampler:
  46.  
  47. a.  Ensure that the Opus 'n Bill On The Road Again Sampler is 
  48.     not running. (Shut the program down and delete any icons 
  49.     in the Program Manager.)
  50. b.  From Windows File Manager (or from DOS) delete the directory
  51.     containing OPUSBILL.EXE.
  52. c.  From Windows File Manager (or from DOS), delete DELRSAMP.INI
  53.     from the Windows directory.

  57.  
  58. 1.  To create the sampler, the following features have been
  59.     disabled or removed from the full-featured Opus 'n Bill 
  60.     On The Road Again Screen Saver:
  61.  
  62.     "Add" Option:
  63.        No modules can be added to the Opus 'n Bill On The Road
  64.        Again Sampler
  65.  
  66.     "Remove" Option:
  67.        No Modules can be removed from the Opus 'n Bill On The
  68.        Road Again Sampler
  69.  
  70.     No templates are supplied
  71.  
  72. 2.  The Opus 'n Bill On The Road Again Sampler ships with the same
  73.     Help as Intermission. So, don't be alarmed if you find Help
  74.     documentation for features which don't exist in the Sampler
  75.     (such as the disabled functions). 
  76.  
  77. 3.  The screen saver delay that is set in Windows' Control Panel
  78.     will take precedence over the one set in Intermission.  If 
  79.     you have Intermission set to time out in 30 minutes, but your
  80.     screen saver comes on after two minutes, you should disable
  81.     the Windows Screen Saver (i.e., set to none).  
  82.  
  83. 4.  The Opus 'n Bill On The Road Again Screen Saver is a sound-
  84.     capable multimedia product.  Sound will run through an 
  85.     installed sound card or through the internal speakers of your
  86.     computer if either driver has been installed.
  87.  
  88.     You can check to see if either driver has been installed by
  89.     looking in the Control Panel in the Main Group of your
  90.     Windows Program Manager.  
  91.  
  92.     To hear sound in Intermission modules, you need to:
  93.  
  94.        a.  Have a sound card and the appropriate drivers, or a 
  95.            PC Speaker Driver installed.
  96.  
  97.        b.  Make sure the volume is set in the Intermission 
  98.            Options dialog box and for your sound card.
  99.  
  100.     NOTE:  Remember, that PC speaker drivers (which use your PC's
  101.            built-in speaker) may cause your machine to pause when 
  102.            sounds are being played.  The wait cursor will freeze.
  103.            The sound quality will be marginal. For sound driver 
  104.            installation instructions, refer to your Windows 
  105.            documentation.
  106.  
  107.     If you don't have a sound driver installed, the internal 
  108.     speaker driver can be downloaded from the Delrina forum under
  109.     the Consumer Software Division section on Compuserve. 
  110.  
  111.     From America Online, you can download the speaker driver 
  112.     file from the PC Music and Sound Forum Library. The filename 
  113.     is SPEAK.EXE. (Keyword: PC Music)
  114.  
  115. 5.  The Opus 'n Bill On The Road Again Sampler is not designed to
  116.     run while other screen savers are running and vice versa.
  117.     This includes Intermission 4.0, 3.0, 2.0 and Screenpeace.  The
  118.     sampler will only run the supplied screen saver modules.
  119.  
  120. 6.  If you use a compressed hard drive (using Stacker or 
  121.     DoubleSpace, or another disk compression utility), some ASA 
  122.     modules will take longer to load than they would from an 
  123.     uncompressed drive.  This occurs once at the beginning of the
  124.     animation, when the entire file is loaded into memory.  The 
  125.     actual performance of the animation does not suffer.
  126.  
  127. 7.  The configuration dialog of some modules includes a check 
  128.     box to "Skip Songs".  This option only applies to those 
  129.     modules that include MIDI sounds.  Since none of the sampler
  130.     modules use MIDI this box has no effect. 
  131.  
  132. 8.  Some Intermission ASA modules may require up to three 
  133.     megabytes of free memory in order to play the animation.
  134.     Should you not have the required free memory, you will see a
  135.     message indicating that there is a problem loading the module.
  136.  
  137. 9.  Notes on using Intermission with Delrina's WinFax Pro.
  138.  
  139.     Because the Opus 'n Bill On The Road Again Sampler does not
  140.     have an Install program, automatic recognition of the Winfax
  141.     Pro COM port is not supported by the sampler.  
  142.  
  143.     Intermission 5.0 and the full-featured Opus 'n Bill On The 
  144.     Road Again ARE able to recognize and intelligently monitor 
  145.     the COM port that WinFax Pro is using to enable error free 
  146.     faxing!
  147.  
  148.     If you have been avoiding screen savers until now because 
  149.     they tend to bounce your incoming faxes, check out Delrina's
  150.     full-featured screen savers!
  151.  
  152.     By default, Intermission monitors the COM ports in your 
  153.     system for activity and will blank your screen instead of 
  154.     running modules if it detects communications activity.  COM 
  155.     port checking can be individually enabled by including the 
  156.     line "COMx=0" in your ANTSW.INI file (found in your Windows 
  157.     subdirectory) under the "[Intermission]" heading.  For 
  158.     example "COM1=0" would enable COM port checking for COM1. You 
  159.     must restart Intermission to update the settings.  
  160.  
  161.     If the switch COMx=0 is found in the ANTSW.INI file, the 
  162.     following occurs when you are running Delrina WinFax: 
  163.  
  164.     a.  At Intermission startup, Intermission tries to find WinFax.
  165.  
  166.     b.  If Intermission cannot locate WinFax, it tries a second 
  167.         time after 15 seconds (in case both programs are in the 
  168.         StartUp group), and Intermission loads first.
  169.  
  170.     c.  If Intermission is still unable to locate WinFax, it will 
  171.         try each time the saver is invoked. When WinFax is found, 
  172.         Intermission just blanks the screen the FIRST time. This 
  173.         is to make sure that we aren't blanking in the middle of
  174.         a Fax transmission.
  175.  
  176.     d.  If a WinFax Receive or Transmit happens while Intermission
  177.         is blanked, Intermission flashes the message sprite 
  178.         "! Faxing" in the upper left corner of the screen.  This 
  179.         is followed by a "! wake up" sprite.  This sprite is also 
  180.         used to tell you how many e-mail and FAX messages you have
  181.         received while the screen saver module has been running.
  182.  
  183.     e.  If Intermission activates while a Fax transmission is 
  184.         happening, it will just turn your screen blank.
  185.  
  186. 10. Cirrus Logic video cards:  Users of Cirrus Logic video cards, 
  187.     running the Cirrus Logic drivers, could experience problems
  188.     with the Opus 'n Bill On The Road Again Sampler.  You can 
  189.     check to see whether you are running the Cirrus Logic drivers
  190.     by checking the Windows Setup area in the Main Group.  If 
  191.     the Display reads "CL <code number>", then you are running
  192.     the Cirrus Logic drivers.  You can avoid driver-related 
  193.     errors you may be having by changing to the Windows VGA or
  194.     Super VGA driver.
  195.  
  196. 11. Odd Colors:  The configuration dialog for "animation" modules 
  197.     also includes check boxes to "Optimize for 16 Colors" and to 
  198.     "Use Real Colors (VGA)".  These options are only applicable
  199.     if your video drivers or hardware use a palette that differs 
  200.     from the standard Windows VGA palette (most 3rd party video 
  201.     drivers do).  Intermission will default to using the correct 
  202.     palette settings in most cases.  However, some drivers will 
  203.     cause the animation to color incorrectly.  In that case, 
  204.     checking "Optimize for 16 Colors" forces Intermission to use 
  205.     the correct palette.  "Use Real Colors (VGA)" should only be
  206.     checked when you are using the standard Windows video drivers
  207.  
  208.     a.  VGA, 
  209.     b.  VGA 3.0, or 
  210.     c.  Super VGA 800 x 600, 16 colors.
  211.  
  212.     Some video cards will alter the standard palette settings.
  213.     Checking "Use Real Colors (VGA)" will correct that problem. 
  214.  
  215. 12. 8514A Video Driver:  If you are using 8514A video drivers, and
  216.     experience painting problems with ASA modules the problem 
  217.     should be corrected if you check the "Optimize For 16 Colors" 
  218.     check box in the module configuration dialogs.
  219.  
  220. 13. Black screen:  If the Opus 'n Bill On The Road Again Sampler 
  221.     turns the screen black instead of running a module, uncheck 
  222.     the Monitor CPU Activity option in the general section of the
  223.     Options Dialog Box.  This should provide a work-around for
  224.     the problem.
  225.  
  226. 14. Random screen trails during animation:  If the characters 
  227.     leave black lines or traces of themselves during the animation
  228.     process, place a check mark in the "Optimize for 16 Color" 
  229.     checkbox.  This checkbox is located in the "Configure" dialog.
  230.
