- INSTRUCTIONS
-
- OBJECTIVE : The objective of the game is to capture all of the opposing
- player's land and to destroy all of the opposing player's legions. Capturing
- the opposing player's home square is a key goal in achieving success. The
- opposing player's home square is the square from which all of the opposing
- player's legions are formed. The location of this square is not marked on
- the map, however it's location is obvious. Your home square is the location
- where all of your legions are formed, and you should take care in
- protecting it from the opposing player's forces. Once you capture the
- opposing player's home square you are free to move your legion off of that
- square and the opposing player will not be able to form any more legions as
- long as that square remains in your color.
-
- GAINING LEGIONS : The process of gaining legions is done on a five round
- cycle and is based on the amount of land you capture. On the first round in
- the cycle, if you have a total of 5 or more squares, you will gain one new
- legion for that round. On the second round in the cycle, if you have a
- total of 15 or more squares, you will gain one new legion for that round.
- For the next three rounds in the cycle, you will gain one new legion for a
- total of at least 30, 45, and 60 squares in each respective round. This
- five round cycling process will then repeat throughout the game. All new
- legions that you gain are formed in your home square. Keep in mind that you
- will not receive a new legion if you have left a legion in your home square
- from the previous round. Legions should not be moved into your home square,
- unless the square needs to be defended or recaptured.
-
- BATTLE : At the end of each round your legions will do battle with any of the
- opposing player's legions that are present in any adjacent squares. Keep in
- mind that while moving your legions you cannot see where the opposing player
- has or will move their legions.
-
- LATER : The "later" icon can be used to skip moving a legion until later in
- your turn. This will allow you to defer the movement of a legion in the
- event that that legion is currently blocked by other legions of your color.
-
- ODDS : When doing battle, the computer will display the color of the player
- with the advantage or white if the players have an even advantage. A better
- advantage is given to the player that is on a higher piece of land during
- battle. You can gain an idea as to which squares are at what level by moving
- the cursor around on different arrows during the movement phase of the game.
- The computer will display wether a square is higher, lower or the same height
- as the square that your legion currently occupies. The 3-D Viewer can also
- be used to gain an idea of the terrain that you are playing on. The legion
- with the better advantage will have a 2/3 chance of success, while the
- legion with the disadvantage will have only a 1/3 chance of success.
-
- 3-D VIEWER : The 3-D Viewer is operated trough the use of both the left and
- right mouse buttons. The world can be rotated, moved, and zoomed in on. The
- best way to figure out how it works is by experimenting with what happens
- when the mouse buttons are pressed while the cursor is on different parts of
- the screen. Remember to use the right mouse button so you can watch the
- world rotate. Exit the 3-D Viewer by pressing both mouse buttons at the same
- time.
-
- WORLD BUILDER : The World Builder is operated with the use of both the left
- and right mouse buttons. The left mouse button constructs while the right
- mouse button destructs. In order to construct pyramids, the base of the
- pyramid must be contructed first. Many varied worlds can be made with the
- World Builder, but just remember to connect the land masses that you build
- or the players may not be able to engage in battle. Worlds can be save and
- then reloaded for further construction at a later time. Pressing the "play"
- icon will begin the game with the currently loaded world.
