  1. Bridges at Dordrecht

  3. During the early hours of May 10th, 1940, German parachute troops began their
  4. descent on Holland from above. Their mission was to capture the bridges that
  5. would be needed for the advance of the 9th Panzer Division. One unit, a company of 
  6. the 1st/1st Parachute Regiment was to capture the road and rail bridges at 
  7. Dordrecht. The Germans quickly captured the bridge from the suprised Dutch,
  8. they recovered and lauch an counter attack of their own. By day's end
  9. the Dutch would hold the rail bridge, but were unable to dislodge the
  10. Germans from the road bridge.
