  1. ERS 9x for Windows 95/98/ME only.

  3. There is ERS NT available for NT FAT/FAT32 parition only, download at

  8. Installation Win 95/98/ME:
  9. ========================
  10. The full version (about 2.7 MB, which includes the VB6run, ERS
  11. DLLs and OCXs) have to be installed in the computer first before you
  12. can use any of the update versions.
  13.  
  14. Unzip and place ERS files into a temporary folder, double click 
  15. Setup.exe, and select the desired drive to install it in.
  16. Note: ERS9x saves all backups in the drive it is installed in.
  17.  
  18. After Installing ERS 9x
  19. =======================
  20. Once ERS 9x program is opened, you will be prompted to select
  21. shortcuts names.
  22. Click the "Done" button if you are new to ERS or computers.
  23. Otherwise read the instructions when prompted on how to proceed.

  25. Re-install:
  26. ==========
  27. Download one of the update(about 450 KB) versions
  28. from http://www.mslm.com/ers9x.htm.
  29. Registered users, read the registration instructions that were sent to you.
  30. Take care to see that the correct path to the previous installation
  31. is shown in the path window. 
  32. Be sure not to double install, e.g. C:\Program Files\Ers9x\Ers9x.
  33.  
  34. When re-installing, don't delete the previous {older} Ers9x directory,
  35. nor ERS9x.exe. Merely selecting the "Reinstall" button will update
  36. and replace all files and recreate any missing files or folders, while
  37. keeping your previous {old} backups safely intact.
  38.  
  39. Un-install:
  40. ==========
  41. DO NOT... use any third party software to un-install any version
  42. of ERS.
  43. To remove {un-install} ERS correctly, you will find Remove.exe
  44. in the ERS9x directory, run it from the ERS9x directory only.
  45. Then delete the ERS9x directory and any other files that were
  46. not removed by Remove.exe.

  50. Installation Notes
  51. ===================

  53. After upgrading to a new Windows release or upgrade:
  54. ---------------------------------------------------
  55. If you are installing Windows release or upgrade on current Windows and 
  56. you have ERS 9x already installed, before going any further,
  57. click Options\Update ERS for Newer Version Windows.
  58. That will replace old Windows MS-DOS files in the 1Ers folder with the new
  59. Windows MS-DOS files.
  60. Then delete all backups made in in old Windows.
  61. If you think that you might want to go back to old Windows, then save couple
  62. backups to restore from, be sure to note it.
  63. If you went back to older version, then click Options\Update ERS for Newer version
  64. Windows again to replace new version files with older.
  65. If accidently made a restore from an older Windows backup, then simply re-restore
  66. from the newer Windows backup.
  67.  
  68. Windows\Temp
  69. ===========
  70. If you have a command line in the Autoexec.bat to delete Win95/98/ME
  71. temporary files in the C:\Windows\Temp upon startup then the DLL
  72. update will not take affect if it prompts you to restart computer.
  73. Remove the line from the Autoexec.bat when you are installing programs
  74. that requires a reboot.

  76. ERS keeps its data in its own registry (.dat files) instead of using
  77. Windows Registry. ERS doesn't make any modifications or entries to the
  78. Registry or any other system files, it merely makes new ERS directories,
  79. then copies ERS files to the appropriate directories. It places a Shortcut
  80. icon in the Start menu for easy access.
