  3. How To Get START Programs Up And Running
  4.  
  5. 1) Write protect your original START disk.  Move the tab on the
  6. back of the disk so that you can see through the hole in the disk
  7. case.  This prevents the accidental deletion of files on the START
  8. disk.
  9.  
  10. 2) Make a backup copy.  Run STARTCPY.PRG (it's on your START disk)
  11. and follow the instructions.  You will need to have a blank disk
  12. ready.
  13.  
  14. 3) Store the original and use the backup hereafter.
  15.  
  16. 4) Most of the files are compressed so that we can fit more
  17. programs on the disk.  Programs with the text ARC before the
  18. extension (such as SAMPLEARC.PRG) must be uncompressed before
  19. they can be used.  We use Double Click Software's DC SEA utility
  20. to create self-extracting archive (ARC) files.  To un-ARC a
  21. program, simply double-click on the filename.

  23. 5) When the dialog box appears, choose Extract.
  24.  
  25. 6) When the file selector appears, choose a destination disk
  26. (hard disk, RAM disk or floppy disk) for the uncompressed files. 
  27. If you are not sure how to use your file selector, refer to your
  28. ST manual or your replacement file-selector documentation, or read
  29. the help file INSTRUCT.TXT on this disk.  Do not attempt to use
  30. your START disk or backup copy as a destination disk -- there
  31. isn't enough room to hold the files.  Make sure the destination
  32. disk has enough space for the uncompressed files, whose sizes are
  33. given below:

  59. The screen goes blank, then the files are listed as they are
  60. extracted, and marked "OK" if the uncompression is successful.

  64.  
  65. Problems with your START disk?  If you are new to START, please
  66. read the file INSTRUCT.TXT on this disk.  It contains detailed
  67. instructions for extracting START programs.  Otherwise, it is
  68. possible that the disk has been damaged in transit.  To receive a
  69. replacement copy, follow the procedure below.

  72. 734-6309 on weekdays 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Central Time.  Your
  73. subscription will be confirmed, and a replacement disk will be
  74. sent to you.

  78. replacement disk will be sent to you.
