  11. 1.  System Requirements:
  12.  
  13.     - 386SX or higher
  14.     - 2MB of RAM (4 MB or higher recommended)
  15.     - Windows 3.1 or higher installed
  16.     - Microsoft Video for Windows installed (optional)
  17.     - Apple Quicktime for Windows installed (optional)
  18.     - Xing Technologies MCI MPEG driver installed (optional)

  21. 2. Installing PlayIt
  22.  
  23.    Run the SETUP.EXE program that came with  PlayIt v2.03.  If you have ever
  24.    installed a Windows program before, you will know what to expect.  If you
  25.    haven't, it is really simple.

  28. 3. Installing Microsoft Video for Windows
  29.  
  30.    PlayIt will run best if  Video for Windows 1.1e  is installed.   If  you
  31.    received a set of distribution disks from Shamrock Systems & Technology,
  32.    you will find the Video for Windows 1.1e runtime on disk 3.   Simply run
  33.    the SETUP.EXE program on that disk to install.
  34.  
  35.    If you don't have the Video for Windows runtime already, you can find it 
  36.    in the following locations:
  37.  
  38.     + CompuServe: GO WINMM, Library 2, file VFW11E.ZIP
  39.     + Internet  : ftp.microsoft.com in /developer/drg/multimedia/vfw11e.zip
  40.     + Possibly on the same BBS you obtained PlayIt from.
  41.  
  42.    If you have other Windows software that works with AVI,  you may already
  43.    have the required drivers installed.   An easy way to  check is to click
  44.    on the  Drivers  icon in the  Windows Control Panel.   If the MCI device
  45.    Video for Windows is listed, you have the AVI drivers installed.     For
  46.    best results,  make sure you have version 1.1e of Video for Windows. One
  47.    way to tell is to see if you have the Microsoft ACM driver installed.

  49.    PlayIt will run without VfW, but you will not be able to  work with  AVI
  50.    files nor compressed BMP images.  You will get an error message when you
  51.    attempt to  load an AVI  file if you do not  have the  drivers correctly
  52.    installed.  If you know you have the Video for Windows runtime installed
  53.    correctly and PlayIt still refuses to load the file, try playing it with
  54.    Media Player, which is in the Windows Accessories group. If Media Player
  55.    works with the file, please send us the offending AVI and we'll see what
  56.    we can do to fix the problem.

  59. 4. Installing QuickTime for Windows
  60.  
  61.    PlayIt will run best if  QuickTime for Windows 2.0  is also  installed.
  62.    If  you received the registered version of PlayIt from Shamrock Systems
  63.    and Technology, QuickTime for Windows can be installed along with PlayIt
  64.    by clicking the appropriate option when you begin the install.

  66.    If you don't have the Apple Quicktime for Windows 2.0  runtime already,
  67.    you can find it in the following location:

  72. 5. Obtaining drivers from Shamrock Systems and Technology
  73.  
  74.    If you cannot find the Video for Windows or Quicktime drivers,  you can
  75.    obtain a shareware distribution kit from Shamrock Systems and Technology 
  76.    which includes an unregistered copy of PlayIt v2.03 and all required AVI
  77.    and Quicktime drivers by mailing your request along with $7.95 USD, or
  78.    $9.95 Cdn to:

  85.    All  requests will be  processed within 48  hours of our receiving your

  90.    MCI MPEG drivers.    Refer to the help file for information on obtaining
  91.    these drivers.

  112.    Select Contents from the HELP menu in PlayIt,  or press F1,  to find out
  113.    how to use the program.

  115.    Please note that PlayIt is licensed to use LZW compression and is also
  116.    licensed to distribute QuickTime for Windows 2.0 by disk only.

  119. 8. Benefits of Registration
  120.  
  121.    You  may  be  asking  yourself  why you  should  bother registering this
  122.    product.  There are a number of reasons.
  123.  
  124.    First, shareware only works if the end users register the products  they
  125.    continue to use.   Not doing so is just as bad as stealing the software.  
  126.    Shareware authors spend a  great deal of time developing their products, 
  127.    and it gives them a great feeling to know they are appreciated.
  128.  
  129.    Second,  registered users of  PlayIt will receive the latest  version of
  130.    the software, Video for Windows, QuickTime for Windows, technical support
  131.    and be kept up to date on  future enhancements  to the software.   Since
  132.    PlayIt is constantly undergoing additions and improvements,  this is the
  133.    easiest way  to stay  on top.    Our policy  regarding upgrades  goes as
  134.    follows: the first upgrade is free and will be sent automatically.  After 
  135.    that,  you will  receive a notice  every other release  with an offer to
  136.    upgrade for $5.00 USD.

  138.    Finally,  it would really make  me very happy and it really is not a lot
