  2. Welcome to Tartaruga V1.2
  3.  
  4. Please read this file before and after installing Tartaruga on your
  5. computer system.
  6.  
  7. 0.) NEWS
  8. This version has now unlimited access to all functions.
  9. Using it for more than 30 days AND 30 hours:
  10. You can test for one year if you use it just some minutes a day,
  11. if you use it more than 30 hours your limit will be 30 days).

  15. For Version 1.3 we will provide (as time and money will allow)
  16. - will also support 16bit processing on timestretch and filters.

  20.   reading (like the Soundblaster stuff, so you don't need to switch
  21.   application).

  24. 1.) System Requirements
  25. -----------------------
  26. The Program requires MS-DOS version 6.0 or later, Windows 3.1,
  27. 1.5M Byte of disk space, a Soundcard and a CD-ROM drive to fully
  28. access all of Tartaruga's features.
  29.  
  30. 2.) The Program Files
  31. ---------------------
  32. The shipped zipfile also contains the following text files:
  33.     BBS.TXT, VENDOR.TXT and REGISTER.TXT.
  34.  
  35. The archive file for BBS, FTP and other sites is "TURTLE##.???"
  36. where ## is the version number (now 11 for version 1.1) and
  37. where ??? is the file extension, which will depend upon the archiving
  38. method used (it may be ZIP, ARJ, etc.).

  40. Short Program Description for BBS:
  41.  
  42.   >Tartaruga:
  43.   >- Transfer raw CD-Audio data to WAV format (digital copy)
  44.   >- Slow down and expand time of wave files without
  45.   >  changing the Pitch. This is great for analysing high speed
  46.   >  solos and phrasings, or learning to play by ear.
  47.   >- Filters help you to isolate specific notes and instruments
  48.   >  used by artists in their solos
  49.   >- A special wave player lets you listen to the processed sounds
  50.  
  51. 3) Backing up the files
  52. -----------------------
  53. Please make a back up the Tartaruga files before you install the program.
  54. (at least back up the zip-file).
  55. The program checks for corrupted files (this can be due to hardware failure,
  56. a virus, attempts to hack the program or many other reasons) and will
  57. not run if the files do not check out. In that event, you can only recover
  58. corrupted files from your backup.
  59.  
  60. 3.5) Installing Tartaruga
  61. -------------------------
  62. To install Tartaruga, first, unzip the archive file TURTLE11.ZIP to a floppy
  63. disk. Then start Windows, and run Tarturaga's setup program by selecting
  64. the run command from the file menu and enter A:SETUP.
  65. If you have copied the files in a temporary directory on your harddrive or
  66. you got a Versione on CD-ROM you have to launch the SETUP.EXE from this specific
  67. drive and directory. Follow the instructions in the SETUP-programme.

  69. 4) Copy Protection
  70. ------------------
  71. Tartaruga is copy protected and will not give you full access to all of
  72. the features in the unregistered version. You can use and evaluate the
  73. program for 30 days or 30 hours, before you have to obtain a software
  74. license and register the program.

  76. 5) Shareware Concept
  77. --------------------
  78. You may copy the program file "turtle##.zip" as long as you do not change
  79. it. You may not share the registration key (supplied to licensed users only).
  80. You may not charge a fee for sharing copies unless you comply with the
  81. provisions set out in the file VENDOR.TXT.

  83. If you do not have a copy of this software and wish to distribute it
  84. it for a fee, please contact WizardMusic by phone at (xx39)-11-7790523, or
  85. by email at tweety@pmn.it.

  87. If you decide to continue using the program and to register it, the
  88. registration key may only be used on the computer specified in the
  89. original order for the license. The key is strictly bound to the computer
  90. hardware. If you change your computer you wan't be able to continue
  91. using Tartaruga, but we will give you a new key if you have been
  92. already registered for a small additional fee.

  94. 6) License agreement
  95. --------------------
  96. Tartaruga is copyrighted by WizardMusic.
  97.  
  98. Every effort has been made to insure that Tartaruga functions reliably.
  99. It is however impossible for WizardMusic to insure that the software functions
  100. properly on all types of IBM-PC computers, sound cards and CD-Roms.
  101.  
  102. WizardMusic assumes no liability for damage or losses incurred resulting from
  103. the use of this product.

  105. 7) Attention:
  106. -------------
  107. This software probably has bugs; no significant software has ever been
  108. produced without them.
  109.  
  110. If you feel that this program can be improved in any way, we are
  111. open (NEU: and we need) to your ideas. If you discover a problem, please inform us,
  112. and we will attempt to fix the problem.
  113.  
  114. NEU:
  115. Updates (version 1.3 until 1.9) are free of additional fees.
  116. If tartaruga enhances signficantly the functionality it will change
  117. the version number 2.0 and has to be registered again. Registered users
  118. will have to pay only a small additional fee.
