  3. This is the README file distributed with WINCDP version 3.3
  4. WINCDP stands for WIN CD Player.

  7. INSTALLING WINCDP
  8. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  9. The installation of WINCDP is very simple. All you have to do is copy
  10. all the files to your hard disk. And select WINCDP into one of your
  11. Window Groups from Windows.
  12.  
  13. There are things that you have to notice ...
  14.   1.)  Make sure that WINCDP.EXE WINCDDLL.DLL MSDNTB.DLL and WINCDP.HLP
  15.        are in the same subdirectory.
  16.   2.)  Copy CTL3D.DLL to your window\system directory. Don't override
  17.        the newer one in your windows\system directory.

  21. IN THE 3.3 RELEASE     Jan 22. 1995

  23. Added the "delete disc" function to database.

  40. WINCDP is now on CompuServe. If you have an account there, you can download
  41. and register WINCDP via your ID. See REGISTER.TXT for more information.

  43. Registration via e-mail is no longer supported because of the growing size
  44. of WINCDP package. It is not wise to send such a big file over internet.
  45. Some users even have problems in uudecoding.

  63. The main dialog box has been changed from this release on.
  64. It is much smaller than it was in the previous releases.

  66. Added an option for shutting off music or not on closing WINCDP.
  67. Now, it is possible to enjoy music even wincdp has been closed.

  88. Modified the sequence when autoplay on disk insertion and auto-update of
  89. the database are both turned on. Now the music is playing which makes it
  90. much easier on the ears while entering the data.

  101. Added the "eject in" and "eject out" functionality.

  104. Added three vertical sliders for users to control volume levels.
  105. Users can "page-up" or "page-down" or "Thumb-Track" the volume levels.

  108. Added the "fast-switch" functionality. Users can begin or switch to any

  111. Added the "Always on Top" option. Users can force WINCDP to stay at the

  116. IN THE 2.2 RELEASE     Feb 18. 1994

  118. Fixed a bug which caused WINCDP to display wrong percent information while
  119. playing songs whose length are longer than 11 minute.

  121. Added a help button. The users can obtain online help by pressing the
  122. help button.

  124. Added a piece of code to paint the icon when WINCDP is minimized.
  125. In the previous versions, the minimized WINCDP is a gray icon.
  126.  
  127. Append the option dialog box to the end of the main window. Thus, you can
  128. fine-tune the performance of WINCDP. That's what I did in the 1.0 release.

  130. Added 'Sleep' function. You can close WINCDP after a specified time.

  132. Added several checkboxes for users to define the behaviors of WINCDP,
  133. including 'Show Edit Dialog on New Disc', 'Gray Button when Disabled' and
  134. so on.

  136. Well, I have changed the bitmaps of some buttons because I found these
  137. bitmaps were too large and might exceed the height or width of the buttons.
  138. So I could only change their size or even design newer bitmaps.

  142. IN THE 2.1 RELEASE     Feb 4. 1994

  144. Fixed a major bug which caused WINCDP automatically ejects discs from
  145. CD-ROM deck. OOPS ! Thanks to Phan and Michels for bug report.

  147. Change the name of WINCDP.DLL to WINCDDLL.DLL because it might cause
  148. WINCDP to fail.
  149.  
  150. Enhanced Bitmap-button technique. Now the bitmaps won't be screwed when
  151. WINCDP is running at a display mode other than 800x600.

  153. I have decided not to program the 'RECORD' option.
  154. Instead, WINCDP adds a 'EJECT' button. It allows users to eject CD from
  155. CD-ROM if their CD-ROM support 'software-eject'.

  161. There are great enhancements in the 2.0 release.

  163.    1.)    Database Support.
  164.     WINCDP supports database. Now you can maintain your own compact
  165.     discs database via WINCDP.
  166.  
  167.    2.)    Add one playing mode : PSUDO-RANDOM.
  168.     You can play all the songs on a disc from the one you like best to
  169.     the one you don't like. (Much like to PROGRAM)

  172.    3.)    Add a meter bar to display how much has been finished.

  183.     commerical software named WINCD.

  185.    As you can see, the "record" option is not available in this release.
  186.    It will be finished in the near future. Now, it's keeped as a secret.

  191. IN THE 1.0 RELEASE     Jan 10. 1994

  193. This is the first release of WINCDP and limited features are finished.
  194. However, there are still exciting features available ....
  195.  
  196.   1.)  Provide Three Play Modes .
  197.        WINCDP provide three play modes. They are
  198.        (1) Normal Play
  199.        With normal play mode, you can toggle another three modes.
  200.        Don't Repeat, Repeat Disk and Repeat Single.
  201.  
  202.        (2) Shuffle Play
  203.        You can enjoy you compact disc RANDOMLY with this feature.
  204.  
  205.        (3) Program Play
  206.        You can rearrange the order of the songs on a Disc.
  207.  
  208.   2.)  Provide Volume Control
  209.        WINCDP provides volume control. And also if your sound card supports
  210.        Left/Right volume mixing, then WINCDP allows you to tune the L/R volume
  211.        separately.

  213.   3.)  Toggle Time Display
  214.        You can toggle time display between COUNT DOWN and COUNT UPON...
  215.        The default is COUNT UPON, which makes WINCDP display the CD position
  216.        from the beginning of a song.
  217.  
  218.   4.)  Introduction Mode.
  219.        You can listen to the first 20 seconds of all the songs on a disc.
  220.  
  221.   5.)  Graphical Control
  222.        WINCDP is fully graphical. Most of the buttons are programmed using
  223.        Owner-Draw-Button and much alike to the control buttons of a normal
  224.        CD player.

  227. WILL have
  228.   1.)  WINCDP will support CD database in the near future.
  229.   2.)  WINCDP will allow more configurable options including the colors.

  231. WINCDP acts like a personal CD player. In fact I got all the ideas from
  232. my CD player ...

  238. WINCDP is not free software.  It is released as shareware,
  239. which provides the opportunity for the program to be
  240. evaluated before it is purchased. Complete information on how
  241. to register WINCDP is included in the REGISTER.TXT file.

  244. will receive irregularly update version. FREE for those who have email
  245. accessibility and postage required for those who registered by snail mail.
