  11. Possibly required files from the distribution disk:
  12.     TOOLHELP.DLL    Diagnostic utilities. You only need this file
  13.             if you are running Windows version 3.0.
  14.     THREED.VBX    Visual Basic 3-D push buttons. You do not need
  15.             this file if you have installed the
  16.             Microsoft Visual Basic Professional Toolkit
  17.             on your system.
  18.     VBRUN100.DLL    Visual Basic runtime support. You only need
  19.             this if it is not already installed in your
  20.             WINDOWS or WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

  22. Notes on installation:
  23.       -    You can install this version of the software over an existing
  24.     version by just copying the files.
  25.  
  26.       -    If you are installing this software for the first time, then
  27.     you should copy all files from the floppy disk onto your hard
  28.     disk. You can install the software into any directory; it does
  29.     not need to be in your Windows directory. However, your disc
  30.     database CDAUDIO.INI will always be in your Windows directory,
  31.     so you should back up that file in case your Windows directory
  32.     is ever damaged and you need to re-install Windows.

  35.             Version 1.30 (Quick-CD v1.05)
  36. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
  37.     - Added the Options menu, allowing the control of several
  38.       options. Includes an Auto Play feature (starts playing
  39.       every time you start the program or insert a new disc),
  40.       a Mini-player (shrinks the main window down to minimal size),
  41.       and more.
  42.     - Disc database files are now located in the CDAUDIO directory
  43.       instead of the Windows directory. However, if you have
  44.       existing database files in your Windows directory, CD Audio
  45.       will continue to use them there. If you would like to move
  46.       these files out of Windows and into CDAUDIO, just make sure
  47.       CD Audio is not running and move all files CDAUDIO*.INI from
  48.       your Windows directory into your CDAUDIO directory. The next
  49.       time you run CD Audio it will use the files in their new
  50.       location.
  51.     - Fixed a bug involving the status display of repeated tracks
  52.       in a disc program.
  53.     - Fixed bugs when run on a Mitsumi CD-ROM drive.

  59.     - The UP/DOWN, ENTER, PAGE UP/DOWN keys now navigate correctly

  61.     - Fixed errors in some CD-ROM drives when changing discs.
  62.     - Added "Reset CD-ROM Drive" command to the Disc menu.
  63.     - Fixed bugs involving multiple CD-ROM drives attached to a
  64.       single system.
  65.     - Fixed bug in cancelling "Save changes to disc database?" when
  66.       quitting the program.
  67.     - Cleaned up 17K of extraneous stuff from the EXE file.

  73.     - Added Repeat command to the Disc menu to allow continuous
  74.       playback of discs.
  75.     - Increased the storage capacity of the disc database from
  76.       64K to 640K (from about 100 CD's to about 1000). This should
  77.       be transparent, but in case you need to know, the disc databases
  78.       are stored as the files CDAUDIO.INI, CDAUDIO1.INI, ..., in your
  79.       Windows directory.
  80.     - Fixed crash when entering track information for discs with
  81.       <= 10 tracks.
  82.     - The main window caption is now updated instantaneously when
  83.       the disc title changes.
  84.     - Disc programs can now contain the same track multiple times
  85.       using the "Allow Repeats" checkbox in the Disc Program window.

  98.     - Pause/Resume was not working correctly on some players;
  99.       it's now fixed.
  100.     - (Quick-CD version 0.95 only) Fixed problems where changing
  101.       discs on certain drives would report "Drive Not Ready".

  106. Changes:
  107.     - Fixed problems with startup on some CD-ROM drives (the program
  108.       would sometimes hang or return errors). If you are experiencing
  109.       problems on startup, try adding the following lines to the
  110.       [Settings] section of your CDAUDIO.INI file (if you do not
  111.       have a [Settings] section then create one):
  112.  
  113.         ResetOnStartup=1
  114.  
  115.       This instructs CD Audio to reset the CD-ROM drive during startup.
  116.       It is totally safe but it does cause a slight delay during
  117.       startup. Possible values for the ResetOnStartup flag are:
  118.  
  119.           0    do not reset on startup
  120.         1    always reset on startup
  121.         2    reset on startup only if there is a CD in the
  122.             drive
  123.         3    reset on startup only if there is no CD in the
  124.             drive
  125.  
  126.     - Changed all CD-ROM error handling to a timeout scheme. By
  127.       default the time out value is 3 seconds. If you would like to
  128.       change it then add the following line to the [Settings] section
  129.       of your CDAUDIO.INI file:
  130.         WaitDiscChange=value
  131.       where "value" is the number of milliseconds to wait before
  132.       reporting an error from the CD-ROM drive.
  133.  
  134.     - Fixed a bug that happened when you changed the CD while the
  135.       main window was iconized.

  140. Changes:
  141.     - Shuffling or Un-Shuffling now positions the CD at track 1
  142.       every time.

  144.     - Fixed problems where the current track was sometimes off by 1.

  146.     - Changed the icon when minimized to have no background instead
  147.       of a white background (i.e. it now inherits your desktop back-
  148.       ground)

  154.     - Fixed "Subscript out of range" errors that sometimes occured
  155.       when a disc program was in use. Also fixed generally flaky

  158.     - Fixed a bug where scrolling horizontally to the end of the
  159.       last CD track caused a "Seek error".

  161.     - Fixed positioning errors involving the up and down arrows in
  162.       the main window (i.e. current track indicator when the current
  163.       track is not visible in the window).

  168. New features:
  169.     - Smart main window re-sizes itself based on the number of
  170.       tracks in the CD and your Windows screen resolution. Takes
  171.       up much less screen space than its predecessor. Supports all
  172.       screen resolutions EGA or higher.
  173.  
  174.     - Added support for multiple CD-ROM drives attached to a system.
  175.       The Disc menu contains a "Select CD-ROM Drive" command which
  176.       is available when CD Audio detects that multiple CD-ROM drives
  177.       are present.

  179.     - More complete error reporting when an error occurs. The
  180.       CDAUDIO.LOG file now contains a memory dump for all errors;
  181.       this will help me track down bugs on a post-mortem basis.

  183.     - Copying track titles to the clipboard now copies the disc
  184.       artist and title on the same line instead of putting them
  185.       on separate lines (i.e. not copies "Artist - Title").
  186.  
  187.     - Enhanced the Order Form to include your preferred diskette
  188.       size, current version number of CD Audio, and Windows version.
  189.  
  190. Bug fixes:
  191.     - Added workarounds for certain CD-ROM drives that displayed
  192.       "General Failure", "Drive Not Ready", and "Invalid Disc Change"
  193.       errors. If you still experience these bugs, try adding the
  194.       following line to the [Settings] section of your CDAUDIO.INI
  195.       file (if you do not have a [Settings] section then create one):
  196.           WaitDiscChange=5000
  197.  
  198.     - Added workaround for certain CD-ROM drives that display the
  199.       wrong current track during playback. If you are consistently
  200.       getting the wrong current track highlighted for tracks >15,
  201.       try adding the following line to the [Settings] section of
  202.       your CDAUDIO.INI file (if you do not have a [Settings] section
  203.       then create one):
  204.           TrackFormat=hex
  205.  
  206.     - Exiting CD Audio via ALT+F4 now asks you if you want to save
  207.       changes to the disc database. Previously only exiting by the
  208.       Disc Exit command (CTRL+X) asked you.

  223. To run CD Audio, you need the following:
  224.       - Windows 3.1 or 3.0 (Multimedia Extensions are not required)
  225.       - Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions (MSCDEX), version 2.20 or above
  226.       - Visual Basic runtime (VBRUN100.DLL)
  227.  
  228. These are not included with CD Audio; however, MSCDEX and the VB runtime
  229. are available on Compuserve. MSCDEX version 2.21 is in the Microsoft
  230. Software Library forum (GO MSL-1), filename CDEXT.EXE; VBRUN100.DLL is
  231. in the Microsoft Basic forum (GO MSBASIC), section 5 (Visual Basic),
  232. filename VBRUN.ZIP.
  233.  
  234. WORD FOR WINDOWS USERS: WinWord can hang on File Open, if you have an
  235. audio CD in your CD-ROM drive. Microsoft has fixed this bug with an
  236. interim release of WinWord, version 2.0a, which is available free of
  237. charge to registered WinWord users. Contact Microsoft Product Support
  238. at 206-462-9673.
