  1. XMITOOLS is used to extract XMIDI files 
  2. (those with the extension XMI) which are 
  3. a compressed MIDI format. Many games have 
  4. they're music stored in XMI format, often 
  5. times all in one file, just appended to 
  6. each other. Since XMI's are already com-
  7. pressed, compression usually cannot hide 
  8. their presence.  When ripping XMI's, 
  9. chances are you will get quite a few.  
  10. There are usually different XMI's for 
  11. every different sound card needed (i.e. 
  12. you'll get a batch of MT32 XMI's and a 
  13. batch od GM XMI's).
