- I wrote PlayWav.exe to be run when I double-clicked on a WAV file in the File
- Mananger. Every WAV player I have found had the following problems:
-
- 1. When I double-clicked on a WAV file, I would have to press a play or
- start button to listen to the sound, and,
-
- 2. Would force me to EXIT the program before double-clicking on another WAV
- file unless I wanted another copy of the program window on my screen.
-
- I just wanted a simple program that would play the sound that I picked and
- when I picked another WAV file, would play that one too without creating
- another copy of the program. So I wrote one.
-
- To use MRB PlayWav you should first ASSOCIATE files of type WAV with MRB
- PlayWav using the Windows File Manager. After that you can play a WAV file
- using one of the following methods:
-
- 1. Double Click the WAV file from withing the File Manager.
-
- 2. Create a New Icon in any Program Manager group. In the "Command Line"
- field enter the drive/path/name of the WAV file.
- (example: c:\sounds\noise.wav)
-
- Since MRB PlayWav is associated with all WAV files, the program will run
- using the specified WAV file. When MRB PlayWav is started using either of
- the above two methods, it runs as a minimized desktop icon.
-
- The icon is animated while sound is being played and then turns into a stop
- sign when the sound is finished. When you start another WAV file the same
- copy of the program runs and the icon becomes animated again until the sound
- completes.
-
- To remove the desktop icon, click on the icon and select Close.
-
-
- If you start playing a WAV file while another is being played, the new WAV
- file will start immediately; the current sound will stop. This feature
- allows you create some interesting effects. Experiment with it.
-
-
- If you want to run MRB PlayWav interactively using it's interface use one of
- the following methods:
-
- 1. If MRB PlayWav is minimized as a desktop icon, double click on the icon.
-
- 2. Double Click on PlayWav.exe using the program manager.
-
- 3. Create a New Icon in a Program Manager group. In the "Command Line"
- field, enter drive/path/PlayWav.exe, i.e. c:\windows\PlayWav.exe. If
- your WAV files are in a specific directory, enter the drive/path to the
- WAV files in the "Working Directory".
-
- You can then play a WAV file by selecting File, Open from the MRB PlayWav
- menu.
-
- Enjoy.
