- ABOUT ENYASONG
- ==============
-
- About a year and a half ago, a friend of mine handed me a tape and said
- "Here -- you've *gotta* listen to the first song on this album." Well,
- suffice to say, it was my first exposure to Enya's music, and I fell in
- love with that track. I decided to try putting together a MIDI arrangement
- of the piece, orchestrated around piano, string orchestra, choir and
- bass drum. There was no way I could mimic Enya's fantastically warm,
- breathy vocals within the confines of MIDI, so I decided to put together
- my own vocal and string arrangement. I am not sure what the name of
- the piece is (it wasn't written on the tape), but I'm sure most folks will
- recognize it (I think it was on her first album).
-
- Those of you with MIDI equipment might want to try playing this file,
- though you'll have to spend some time revoicing it to make use of
- your gear. It's been specifically tailored to run on the Roland
- D-70 (for the piano tracks) and Emu Proteus/1 (for everything else),
- but it shouldn't be too hard to adapt for use with your system.
-
- Those without MIDI can obtain a tape from me if you care to do so.
-
-
- TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
-
- I am including two versions of the file. 'EnyaSong.mid' is a multitrack
- MIDI file and should be used if possible. If your sequencer cannot
- handle multi-track (Type 2) MIDI files, use 'EnyaSong.md1' instead,
- which is Type 1 and contains just the piano tracks.
-
- For my synths (Roland D-70 and Emu Proteus/1), I have things set up
- as follows:

- * - The piano track must be played back one octave higher for use
- with the D-70's Acoustic Piano patch. For other synths, this
- should not be necessary.
-
- ** - The MIDI sequence contains volume changes for these tracks,
- so the volume is controlled by the sequence. As such, I'm
- afraid it may be difficult to get the proper mix on something
- other than a Proteus, so you'll have to play around a bit with
- it to get it to sound right.
