- A Collection of ELP Tunes - Set 2
-
- For all ELP fans out there, here is a collection of ELP tunes that have been
- acquired from the 'Net or sequenced by myself and Jos.
-
- Many years ago, I met Keith Emerson at Morley and Co (harpsichord builders in
- London) when I was doing research in harpsichords and he was downstairs
- in the showroom playing some of his own compositions and a particularly mean
- version of Strange Meadow Lark by Dave Brubeck. Keith, you must have a
- phenomenal ear because the rendition was perfect. As an old Dave Brubeck fan
- myself, I can assure you that afternoon was a priceless experience.
-
- Anyway, not being behind the door, I took the opportunity to chat to my idol and
- asked him why he had never published any of his compositions as my wife, Jos,
- was dying to play them. Good idea, he said, and lo and behold, 4 years later
- the ELP song book was born!
-
- If I have stretched the truth, I apologise. However, I hope that in some small
- way, I managed to persuade Keith to publish some of his compositions.
-
- The songs in this compilation are:
-
- Endless The Endless Enigma. Original. Part 1, Fugue and Part 2.
- 10 minutes of music.
- Infinite Infinite Space. Found on the 'Net.
- Karn9 Karn Evil 9 - Part 1. Found on the 'Net.
- Luckyman Lucky Man. It gets better after the first verse. Trust me!
- Will someone who plays drums please do a better drum track?
- Takepebb Take a Pebble. Original. Even includes water effects.
- 10 minutes of music.
- Thesage The Sage. Found on the 'Net. Minor corrections.
- Thescore The Score. Courtesy of Kerenyi Gabor. Visit his excellent
- home page at http://sunrise.sote.hu/~kepenu
- Mail him at kepenu@dc.sote.hu
- Trilogy Trilogy. Original. Vastly superior version to the one found
- on the 'Net. 10 minutes of music. Home grown solos - but don't
- hold that against me - I can't play keyboards!
-
- Feel free to adapt these songs any way you want. If you improve on them, mail
- me a copy, please, so I can fix mine up %-)
-
- Files are in MID format if we found them and MID/WRK (Cakewalk) format if we
- sequenced them. All files play back perfectly on a Roland Sound Canvas SC-155
- and include numerous SYSEX stuff to set up reverb effects, pan, chorus etc. If
- your synth is not GS compatible, I'm sorry.
-
- I'm sure that this compilation breaks all kinds of copyright rules. If it does
- and Keith gets upset, please contact me and I'll withdraw it from distribution.
-
- Hopefully, this will not happen and ELP will take this compilation in the spirit
- in which it is intended. Here is some free advertising to make it all
- worthwhile :-}
-
- For the ELP pianists out there, may I recommend the ELP songbook to you -
- Manticore Music - published in UK in 1978 - lots of great songs apart from the
- ones we have made a bad attempt at sequencing.
-
- Ars longa vita brevis (as Nice once "said" ....)
-
