- Prokofiev's Suggestion Diabolique Op. 4. No. 4 is arguably
- the most difficult piece in the piano literature (there are other
- contenders like Islamey and Schuman's Toccata, but for sheer
- concentrated brilliance and technical demands, I pick Prokofiev,
- even over his Toccata). After a bumpy start, the 7-note theme
- is bounced around all octaves, sometimes in minor 9th octaves,
- accompanied by breathtaking runs and topped off by a double
- glissando.
