- As with my other Proteus 2 sequences, I use the 2XR presets
- for winds in pairs: Flutes through Bassoons are 65-68. Solos
- are within the track (in the 24-30 range).
-
- In order to get the orchestral parts onto 16 tracks I
- have had the Pizzicato Violins and Tremolo Strings share
- a track as they thankfully do not play at the same time.
- Other instruments each have their own track. The piano
- in my original sequence is played on a piano module
- (Korg P3) on a separate MIDI Out.
-
- Note on the timpani track for Proteus 2 owners who do not
- use Bars&Pipes Pro: the timpani was transposed up an octave
- by E-mu; hence, I use a Bars&Pipes Pro transpose tool to
- transpose the track back down. If you don't have Bars&Pipes
- Pro, but do have a Proteus 2, I suggest you do the same.
- In other words, what you see here is what's in the score.
- Other transposing instruments have been transposed to
- C. Note also that E-mu transposes the Trombones & Tuba
- program down an octave. What you see in this sequence is
- the score as written; in the Bars&Pipes Pro version, I
- have put a Transpose tool at the end of the track to
- raise the track's pitch back up an octave.
-
- Also, the French horn solo is on program 36.
-
- The piano is put on 2 tracks as Rachmaninoff has the
- curious habit of calling for a short note to be played at
- the same time this note was sounded earlier in the measure
- and it to be somehow held past the point where the shorter
- note begins. Therefore, I've put such shorter notes onto
- a second track. When I play this sequence the piano is on
- a different MIDI port.
