- This is one of the Transcendental Etudes, "Eroica" by Franz Liszt, (1811-1886).
- It is a very dramatic and exciting piece. It starts with a fanfare and then
- a march theme which is accompanied in more and more elaborate ways and
- at the end is played in loud octaves and chords. An excellent performance of
- this is by Lazar Berman who I heard at the Festival Hall in London. I sat
- behind the piano on the stage and could see his hands playing the octaves
- like lightning, and spot on the correct notes! I tried to emulate that
- performance. I sequenced it on a Yamaha Clavinova and it shold be played on
- a similar digital electronic piano with timbre change capability, pedals and
- reverb.
