- To properly play the Finale of Dmitri Shostakovich's
- suite from his ballet "The Bolt" you'll need two 32-voice
- synths, no way around it. I used a Proteus 2 and the
- Sound Source Unlimited program for the Korg O3R/W
-
- The score requires an extra brass section ("banda"),
- consisting of an Eb Cornet, 2 Bb Cornets, 2 Bb Trumpets
- (in addition to the 3 Bb Trumpets in the "regular" orchestra),
- 2 Alto Horns in Eb, 2 Tenor Horns in Bb, 2 Baritone Horns
- in Bb, and 2 Bass Horns (untransposed per the score). The
- score also indicates there should be 6 French Horns. Do
- what you wish :-)
-
- Bars&Pipes Pro users will note that I tranpose the
- Trombones&Tuba track (for which I use a Proteus 2)
- up an octave and octave and the Timpani track down an
- octave to counter what E-mu has done with these programs
- in its wisdom.
