  9. Introduction
  10. ------------
  11. MidiKeys is a screen representation of a piano keyboard. 
  12.  
  13. It can play through the internal speaker in the PC, or it can play
  14. sounds using the Windows Multimedia Extensions if you have a sound card
  15. or an external MIDI sound generator.
  16.  
  17. MidiKeys is very useful for setting up the MIDI Mapper, it lets you
  18. audition the sounds on a sound card or MIDI sound module, and it can be
  19. fun to just bang on little melodies.

  21. MidiKeys can now play WAV files, and allows even more fun
  22. possibilities.  You can play along with musical WAV files, or add
  23. special effect to those little melodies.  You can also create virtual
  24. conversations from sound bites, etc.

  27. Registration
  28. ------------
  29. MidiKeys is BannerWare for our product called Makeover for Windows. 
  30. The only fee for using MidiKeys is a completed and mailed registration
  31. form, and enough of your time to read some information about Makeover.
  32. The registration form is contained in REGISTER.TXT and REGISTER.WRI,
  33. and can also be printed from the MidiKeys help file.

  35. The file containing MidiKeys should have included BROCHURE.HLP, which
  36. is an online brochure for Makeover in Windows Help format.  Please take
  37. a few minutes to check out the brochure.

  39. Open BROCHURE.HLP using the File,Run...  command in Program Manager or
  40. File Manager, or open the help for any Windows program and use the
  41. File,Open...  command to open the file.  If HLP files are associated
  42. with WINHELP.EXE, you can just double click on BROCHURE.HLP in File
  43. Manager.  If there is no HLP association, you can enter the command
  44. 'WINHELP' from the File,Run... box, and then use the File,Open... 
  45. menu command in Windows Help.

  48. About Makeover
  49. --------------
  50. Makeover is a collection of utilities that let you dramatically improve
  51. and/or change the appearance of Windows.  Other utilities are included,
  52. but most people buy Makeover for the appearance utilities.  OSFrame
  53. allows you to add 3D and other effects to title bars and sizing borders.
  54. ButtonMaker lets you edit the title bar and scroll bar buttons using
  55. a specialized icon editor.  Predefined buttons are provided that mimic
  56. the Mac, NeXT, OSF/Motif, GeoWorks, and OS/2, but you can easily create
  57. your own.

  59. Makeover is available at all CompUSA stores, and via mail order from
  60. Windows Exchange (1-800-845-1900 or 313-344-1140).  It's also available
  61. through other resellers.  The retail price is $39.95, but the actual
  62. price you pay may be much lower.  Windows Exchange has a free shipping
  63. special in effect for at least April and May of '93.

  68. This software is owned by Playroom Software and is protected by United
  69. States copyright laws and international treaty provisions.  You may not
  70. modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software.

  72. You may freely distribute this version of the MidiKeys software, with
  73. the following restrictions: (a) It may not be included in a software or
  74. hardware package marketed for resale without the express written
  75. consent of Playroom Software; (b) The computer archive file, diskette,
  76. or other media that contains the software must contain this document
  77. and any others originally distributed with the software in unaltered
  78. form.

  80. In no event shall Playroom Software or its suppliers be liable for any
  81. damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, damages for loss of
  82. business profits, business interruption, loss of business information,
  83. or other pecuniary loss) arising out of the use or inability to use
  84. this Playroom Software product, even if Playroom Software has been
  85. advised of the possibility of such damages.
